Nursed on spirituals, jazz, folk, by an activist guitar-toting, oboe-playing mama, and and formally trained in classical music and composition at Peabody and Oberlin conservatory, Teporah has a unique style; a cross between Laura Nyro and Eric Sati. A sultry, soulful vocal style intertwines with piano playing reminiscent of Debussy. Teporah studied jazz and ethnomusicology, sacred singing in the Hindu tradition, Shakuhatchi, The West African Kora, African and Indian percussion, American folk flute, and gamelan, at Towson UMD, and in Bali, Indonesia. This, combined with her own ethnic background as an Armenian of the diaspora, reflecting the haunting music of an ancient culture that survived a genocide, Teporah's sound is unique, soulful, and unforgettable.
She performs locally throughout the DMV, both as a cover artist, and a songwriter, presenting songs about love, life, and social justice.
Current songwriting projects include scoring a documentary about women’s empowerment after trauma.

Teporah is a founding member of Songwriters Against Sexual Assault, a group of songwriters from the DMV who encourage healing and dialog through concerts and workshops.
Teporah presents uplifting, healing songs, under the pen name, "Love Rising", performing them at ashrams, wellness events, healing circles, and festivals.
