His first solo recording was the EP ‘Summer Rain’. It was released in February 2009 and since then Renato has issued three excellent singles all of which demonstrate the ability he has to apply his understanding of what makes great smooth jazz to both modern day classics and his own exquisite compositions. A case in point is the opening track from the ‘Summer Rain’ project. This sensitive interpretation of the Billy Joel smash ‘Just The Way You Are’ is a gem yet in terms of Renato’s original music, the sparse yet beautiful title cut is a fine example of the mellow groove that he effortlessly engenders. “Renato sent me his newest single, which is already on ...iTunes Japan, iTunes Mexico, Amazon MP3, eMusic, Napster. It’s a new, slower version of Bob Marley’s classic song ‘Waiting In Vain’. Marley wrote it in 1977 for his album ‘Exodus’ and it was released as a single. Afterwards it was covered by different artists, like Lee Ritenour in 1992. Renato plays it cool, with the help of sax man Rocco Ventrella. The track becomes a lovely ballad. “Je l’aime bien, Renato!””

It’s a new version of George Benson’s classic smooth jazz track ‘Breezin’’. This was the first smooth jazz album I bought, back in 1976! You can say the song is one of my favourites, and Renato handles it well. His keyboard replaces the sound of the guitar, and is wonderfully relaxed. I adore it! Renato, j’adore cette chanson!”

“Hailing from Bari, Italy, a city of 1.6 million that hugs the Adriatic, Renato Falaschi began playing piano at an early age and then started formal training when he was eight. He continued with his lessons through into his teens, while broadening his focus to include organ and guitar. Later on he excelled in big band arranging and composing and obtained a master's degree, while in 1990, he also earned a degree in classical piano. After some work for Italy's top TV network, Falaschi relocated to France where he's frequently recorded with a variety of top vocalists. Summer Rain is his solo debut, a 3- song EP released in 2009, that nicely foreshadows a full length cd that Falaschi has in the works - from it we've selected the easy vibe of a tune called Traveling Lite!!”

“The Italian piano player Renato Falaschi is a newcomer to the world of smooth jazz, but the mini CD he mailed me testifies that he’s a musician to be reckoned with! He now lives in France, and his mini CD contains three wonderful instrumental tracks. Opener is ‘Just The Way You Are’, a classic song we all know by Billy Joel, also made into a hit by the late Barry White. Renato’s arrangement is wonderfully romantic and his piano play sounds very fresh and inspiring. I like it! It makes your head bopping and your feet tapping the beat. Up next is the original composition ‘Summer Rain’, the title track of the EP. It’s a feel good song, with piano and keyboards, in a nicely relaxed setting. I hope it’ll be soon summer, and if it rains I’ll think of this song! ‘Traveling Lite’ closes the set, again an original song by Renato, that bubbles with excitement. It makes me think of Brian Culbertson, and that’s an honour. Renato my man, what a magnificent mini CD!”
