Ananda Jacobs fuses haunting dream-pop, industrial new-age, and ethereal electronic dreamscapes. The resulting mix also includes break beats with a variety of instruments from around the world.
Lyrics are constructed using poetic elements such as alliteration, ambiguity, and metaphor to explore themes of love, death, metaphysics, and abstract realms.
Composer Ananda Jacobs was born in the United States, and holds university degrees in psychology and music. She has been based in Tokyo since 2006.
“Comforting Goldfrapp- and Cardigans-like sounds, along with a touch of Tokyo influence, converge in Ananda Jacobs' works, resulting in a dark kind of electronic pop. Produced entirely by Jacobs, her music has a spacious, melancholic feel that, though difficult to identify, is strangely familiar...”

“Ananda is a name to remember. Her voice is a haunting mixture of the late 60’s rock and chill out sounds. If you love Jefferson Airplanes' White rabbit and Simon and Garfunkel’s The sound of silence or if you just like music that transports you to another place, well, then this is Ananda Jacobs.”
