Biography:

John Pedersen is a contemporary keyboardist from Southern California. He expresses his individuality as a composer in a variety of genres such as smooth jazz, chill out lounge, funk, Latin influenced rock, solo piano and electronica. Infectious melodies padded by a lush soundscape anchored by a hip rhythm section are some ways to describe John's style. Hypnotic grooves and inspired musicianship are another. Drawing from the rich traditions of African-American, Latin and Native American music, John weaves together an enjoyable multi-cultural experience.

Press:

“GROOVIDI opens with the spirited and aptly titled "It's Good." You just can't help tapping your toes and bidding any sorrow farewell as the spirited melody engulfs you. The spellbinding title track impeccably infuses Smooth Jazz, chill and funk.”
Beth Lewis - SmoothJazz.com

“PARADISE is a smooth journey, however. With songs like "City Lights," a cool blend of searing guitar (Andy Machin) and relaxed keys, the chilled, "Soul Mates," and the world lounge feel of "Along The Path," it's easy to get lost in PARADISE (which is a very good thing).”
Sandy Shore - SmoothJazz.com

"Groovidi" by John Pedersen is an impressive smooth jazz CD. The instrumentation and production are tasteful and the melodies are memorable. Especially impressive, is John's piano and keyboard work, and the excellent musicianship throughout the CD.
Radioindy - RADIOINDY

“As good as PARADISE was, GROOVIDI is better. From the compositions to the engineering/production, and, of course, the playing by all concerned (especially the addition of newcomer Nims), the CD is engaging and highly listenable, if not downright catchy and infectious.”
Bill Binkelman - New Age Reporter

“...the best thing Pedersen's ever put on disc, ALONG THE PATH, a lively pulsing blend of assorted ethnic percussion and kit drums, quavering synths, gorgeously fluid strings, shimmering bell tones and chugging organ.”
Bill Binkelman - New Age Reporter

"Escondido's John Pedersen's fourth album is a pleasant collection of mellow instrumentals somewhere between new age and smooth jazz. The musicianship seems solid, the grooves are pleasant..."
Jim Trageser - North County Times Newspaper

“With piano, acoustic guitar, a whole host of percussion programming and plenty of bright synth work, WHEN SUN BROKE THROUGH has a very "now" sound that is hard to ignore.”
Jimmy D - Instrumental Weekly

“WHITE OWL is a well-done blend of genres...by John Pedersen, keyboardist and percussionist. It's a recording that wears more than a few hats and does them all with flair and style.”
Bill Binkelman - Wind and Wire Magazine

“LEGEND AND LANDSCAPE is the work of an artist who is really coming into his own...the CD has a singleness of musical vision that is apparent after just two or three listens. This ability to have cohesion and musical diversity coalesce on an album is the sign of unique artistry.”
Bill Binkelman - Wind and Wire Magazine

“While striking out in some new musical directions, it also demonstrates a further maturation of this artist's talent. As such, I solidly recommend it to those who favor a catchy hook and a more accessible approach to contemporary instrumental music.”
Bill Binkelman - Wind and Wire Magazine
