Biography:

Welcome to our corner of the universe. Sci Fi is a three piece touring instrumental act out of Wilmington, North Carolina that is relentlessly pursuing the quest for human understanding through the art of music. With the positioning of notes and rhythms, they have developed songs that reach out and take hold, and it is their vision to share it with the rest of the world.

Sci Fi is a three-piece unit, master-minded by live music enthusiasts Tyler Simmons, Tim Philpott, and Justin Heter. Beginning in 2006 with Sci Fi, these 3 guys initially became long-lasting musical companions previously touring in a full-piece funk extravaganza. Now a powerhouse of high-energy jazz rave, Sci Fi often turns your corner jazz funk pub into a full-on electro dance party. With ever-changing psychedelic backdrops and lights that mirror the melodic phrasing and elevated beats, the spacey sounds of Sci Fi often place their audience into a blissful trance. Being apart of the largest gatherings on the east coast like Camp Bisco, Bonnaroo, and Starscape Festival, has allowed Sci Fi to share the stage with countless national acts of whom dominate the instrumental circuit. The charismatic trio of improvisational-minded musicians comes alive on stage amidst a richly crafted full-frontal sonic experience. Sci Fi offers a complete collection of original songs that is nothing less than hypnotic.

"You can't help but dance..."
Chris Robie - Home Grown Music Network

“Yet here Sci Fi is, taking listeners on a 70-minute journey that offers sonic travelers a glimpse into the band's live shows, which range from improvised, highly-charged late-night sets to laidback chill sessions”
Michael Popke - Sea of Tranquility

“They had you right where they wanted you--and right where you wanted to be.”
Ali Delaney - Head High Magazine

"Each show they perform is an experience, an organic tributary of musical knowledge. The growth of each song is much like the evolution of the band itself, its history and a path sprouting like the roots and limbs of an elegant tree."
Brian Tucker - Bootleg Magazine
