Artist Bio

I was born in South Central L.A. and abandoned in a
hospital next to a Mercy Mission with a Purple neon Flashing Sign that said "Jesus Saves"...I was 55 before I knew what that meant. The Hospital burnt down in the 64 Watts Race riots, the mission, me,and that sign still stands.

More About Virgil "Bald Mellon" Jenkins

I am profoundly hearing impaired with only hearing 40% in one ear and the other is just decorative and holds up my sunglasses, a bass Player in a Jr. High Surf Music band and a High School 60's Rock and English Invasion Group. I play what I feel...I sing the wrong words and play the wrong chords, hell some of em ain't even chords, I have some friends and fans that like it...go figure? I'm writing my own stuff now, pretty sad blues tunes with a little faith nugget...or not, I pulled a couple of tunes that were on here cuz they sucked, i'll redo them, I think House of the Rising Sun is one of the most fun and pleasant acoustic excursions in 60's folk. I blew it and removed it, I'll record it again, did you know most artists don't play and sing at the same time! Hmmm. How weird is that? If i want reverb I can play in my bathroom. Where was I.Oh yeah. My old friend Mike was Hoyt Axton's room mate a hundred years ago, the version of  "God Damn the Pusherman" in the movie "Easy Rider" is not how he intened it, in fact it is a request to God to send the Man straight to Hell, so look for it soon on this sixtys anthology with the proper power and emo it deserves. Thanks to all visitors who have listened !
