Jay Ghartey is an multiple award winning Ghanaian American singer, songwriter, producer. and philanthropist. His music smoothly transitions between Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Highlife, Reggae and Hiplife; creating a genre of music that is distinctly his own.
His first album "Shining Gold" was a critically acclaimed masterpiece and was nominated for 5 Ghana music awards and 8 4syte Ghana music video awards. Jay won numerous awards for his debut album including for "Best New Artist in Africa" at the MOAMA awards as well as performing to sold out shows in NYC and in Accra.
The lead single "Papa" from his second album "Papa" apart from being nominated for song of the year at the Ghana music awards, broke new boundaries with the music video being the first time a Ghanaian music video was shown and premiered on BET's exclusive 106th and Park.
Born in the U.S , Jay Ghartey moved to Ghana at the age of eight and it was in Ghana where his grandmother Sabina Hope, a famous West African singer taught him the importance of singing with sincerity and from the soul. Jay Ghartey's dream as a child was to take Ghanaian Music and make it popular worldwide, and is clearly fulfilling that goal. He is heavily involved in his Gh Brothers Youth Foundation School in Nima and mentors hundreds of youth in Ghana.
