Originally from Southern Indiana, Duncan Kirk Bohannon is a composer and pianist based in Los Angeles, CA.
Duncan’s deliberate, meticulous approach to music composition, scoring and production has served him well. Documentary director Steve Childs (‘And We Will Dance’) said the composer’s work “gave a much richer, deeper experience for the viewer. I loved his attention to timing and detail.” In 2011, Mr. Bohannon wrote music for NBC’s ‘Chuck’ and FOX’s ‘Human Target’ under composer Tim Jones, who said, “The maturity and skill [Duncan] brought to the job is surprising, considering his young age.”
By 21, Duncan had already earned two bachelor’s degrees in music from Indiana University and a master’s degree in Film Music Composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts. At present, his array of credits includes feature films, audio dramas, media for non-profits, web video, custom music libraries, and over 15 short films. He is also a prolific piano accompanist, playing regularly at USC, AMDA College & Conservatory, and several churches across Los Angeles.
Duncan currently lives in Glendale, CA, with his wife and daughter.
“I want to thank Duncan for the work he did on the films for our President's Retreat. His original scores brought a level of professionalism to our videos we have never experienced before. The response has already been amazing and I know hearts are still being moved. We were amazed at the high quality of his work based on the short window of time he was given. We look forward to working with Duncan again.”
Dave Phillips, President - Children’s Hunger Fund
“Paul Fagundes of Oak Park…performs a piano recital, accompanied by Duncan Bohannon to help raise funds for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on Aug. 18 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in the Oak Park section of Thousand Oaks. Fagundes played Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18. A reception in the church’s O’Reilly Hall followed the show.”
Jennifer Medina - The Acorn
“Duncan Bohannon - young and talented composer, talks about his work so far on films, and college projects.”
Emmett Cooke - THE SCORE: Bringing Composers Together
“Judith Egerton has an excellent piece in the Sunday C-J about Duncan Bohannon, an IUS graduate with degrees in piano performance and music technology, who will pursue his interest in composing for film, a very specialized occupation.”
