Scrilla was raised in London, schooled in Bermondsey and further educated in Lewisham and Leicester. In his college days Scrilla started taking rapping seriously and began realising his potential. From a young age he would imitate his favourite rappers however his talent really shone through and he further progressed when he went to university. After forming relationships with fellow rappers during his studies, Scrilla and a group of friends decided to form a rap crew, L.E.2. The group had 5 members-Scrilla, 12-gauge, D-man, Playboi and Cesar.
As the group was becoming known, there was an unfortunate incident and they lost group member Playboi who passed away. This had a lasting effect on L.E.2 and the remaining quad decided they would go their separate ways and remain friends. It was at this point Scrilla started his solo career without realising, but because of the demands of university he found it difficult to really pursue a career in music.
In 2004, Scrilla graduated from Leicester and with music still embedded in his mind he started recording again. In 2010, he penned his 1st solo track (What's My Name) taken from his upcoming album and now he is about to embrace the world of music with both arms as he prepares to drop his album ‘Bangers n Cash’.
The wait is almost over and he’s ready to let his music do the talking.
Its time for the takeover.

“So artists sit down with a concept for a song and then write lyrics, or maybe come up with a sample and then make the song. What’s your process like when you make and create music?
Process of making music depends on the beat. Usually I listen to the beat and then come up with the title or song name and then start writing around the song name. Most of the time I write the hook first before the verses, just my own way of doing things I suppose.

“How and when did you officially step into the music game?
I’ve always had an interest in making music for several years now. At the start it was just for fun when I was younger. A few friends who share the same hobby meeting up and recording. But as time went on I kept improving the quality of my work and people showed appreciation for the talent as well as good quality music which I produced. All these has lead me to the point I’m at now. So to answer your question, Officially I’d say the year 2010 I stepped into the game. All past events has been leading to this point.

“Can you tell us how you got into the scene and what would you credit as your first break?
I have always had passion for recording, but never took it really seriously till now. Got in the scenes through my booi big cakes who took me to a studio in hackney like a year ago. Ever since then I decided to take my music seriously and put out records. Before that I use to record tracks but it was amore of a personal thing.
Let’s talk about your latest release. Who produced it and what guests are involved?
The beat for my latest release was produced my a producer in Stratford called VLM. The track was recorded @ Morphs studio in hackney. No features on this track as its my debut Single and I wanted it to be all about me as an artist and a chance for me to show the world my lyrical content and delivery skills.

Scrilla is an MC looking to make some moves this year. His first offering is a single entitled ‘Whats My Name’ which is already going down well with a string of leading DJ’s and radio stations. Scrilla spits bars of flames on this tidy and well-produced double tempo banger. What I like about this track the most is the way he flows nice with the hook being infectious and very catchy. This is the first thing we’ve heard from him, but already he is someone we will be watching closely. Scrilla has definitely got the juice. The single is out now and available from iTunes and Amazon on MP3.
