Biography:

James Fate was born as Nate James on June 14, 1982 in Tacoma,WA. He grew up in a home with a mother who had been a folk singer in Greenwich village during the 60's. He learned to appreciate message focused songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. As he grew up he became attracted to the straightforward lyricism that he heard in hip hop music. At the age of 17 he underwent a powerful spiritual transformation and made a life commitment regarding his Christian faith. During that time he discovered a gift to write rap lyrics. This became the perfect outlet for him to communicate his faith, and to express the frustrations that a young man of faith goes through. During his time in Washington State he performed regularly at Church for all Nations in Tacoma,WA and Club Corridor in Federal Way,WA. He also won several freestyle competitions and organized an emcee competition called the Clash of the Crews at Church for all Nations in April 2006. As Nate James, he released the See No Evil mixtape in June 2006 with fellow Tacoma rapper Blind Rage. In October 2006, James Fate moved to Nashville,TN to fully pursue a musical career. He has had the privilege to freestyle regularly on the stage of B.B. King's in downtown Nashville, and performs regularly at Cafe Coco, also in Nashville,TN. Currently James Fate's sound continues to evolve. Make sure you buy all of his songs at www.myspace.com/jamesfate, and keep your ear open for new songs.

Press:

“Last was James Fate (né Nate James). What a character. He did his best to "show love" to the other performers. One song in particular is pretty catchy, "Just a Dream" which is basically every musician's inner thoughts about how great it would be to make it and leave behind the day job etc. It's more Maroon 5 than hip-hop, though (think "Tangled"). He definitely and undoubtedly was the crowd favorite. ”
Erin Carson - The Musically Inclined

“Also featured in the event is James Fate. James Fate (also known as Nate James) is a street style rapper with sensitive lyrics and song concepts that performs with a band! Nate is also not afraid to display his multitalents by rocking out on the keys. Read more: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=393029340&blogId=425262783#ixzz0uWMDsAwp ”

“Quiet Entertainer's previous work has at times been dark, stacked with minor-key riffs and staccato snare drum rolls. That his style works fairly well with this lot is really no surprise, given the oft-dour approach of James Fate, who speaks on QE's turntable skills on the Machismo cut "I Am..." and W-T, who delivers some indie rap 101 on "Audition." QE's work on this EP — his expression of hip-hop culture — isn't all that different from the electronica for which he's known, but his beats freshen up the local rap game.”
Mark Mays - The Tennessean

"He played at the first Blogworthy show; He played at the last one. He played at some in between too. He’s been kind of my go-to guy for shows. He’s just really good. He has great written material; but also, he can freestyle rap. He’s a hybrid pop-singer/hip-hop artist. His dominant strength is with the hip-hop. He’s obviously spent a lot of time learning how to interact with the crowd AND stay on point with the emcee flow. You almost have to see it to believe it. Check him out on myspace or youtube."
Quiet Entertainer - www.quietentertainer.com

"We're proud to say that the newly released Machismo EP is exactly what we were hoping for. Combining (Quiet Entertainer's) beats with some of the best rhymes yet from local MC's like James Fate and J Prodigal, Machismo sets a new standard for the city's avant-rap scene."
