Biography:

Since the early days of the Punk revolution, Barry Ryan has been one of the trailblazing guitarists in the New York Rock, Rockabilly and Blues scenes.
At the dawn of the NY side of the 70's Punk explosion, Barry was already thrashing his way through venues such as Max's Kansas City, Irving Plaza and CBGB with punk rockers, The Victims. The Victims released 2 EPs and 1 album with Ryan building a reputation as one of the club scene's most dangerous guitarists.
In 1980, Barry joined up with The Rockats in the rapidly growing Rockabilly scene that was taking shape in the New York clubs. Barry's slick riffs and stinging solos were helping to propel The Rockats into an international act.
Throughout most of the 80's Ryan and The Rockats ruled the larger venues across the nation, as well as opening for national arena acts.
In 1981, they released their debut album, "Live at The Ritz" on Island Records. In 1983 they released "Make That Move" for RCA
The Rockats appeared on Dick Clark's American Bandstand in 1983, as well as "Where The Boys Are '84". The Rockats went their separate ways in 1985
After The Rockats, Barry delved deeper into the Americana sounds by exploring the Cajun Zydeco sounds of the Bayou. The result was the formation of Lucky 7, a NYC-based quintet touring the club circuit and filling the dance floors with their rocking blend of Cajun, zydeco, blues, to the critical notice of New Orleans artists like Buckwheat Zydeco and Terrence Simeon.
In 1992, The Rockats re-formed for tours and appearances in both the U.S. and Japan.
In 1999, the Ryan penned "Love You Anyway", performed by The Rockats, was included in the soundtrack of "The General's Daughter", starring John Travolta.
In 2008 Barry Ryan released his solo CD, "And God Said Let There Be Rockabilly". Along with local area performances with Robert Gordon, Barry simultaneously formed and continues to play locally and abroad with Barry Ryan's Rockabilly Express.
Their self-titled debut CD was released in 2010 on Raucous Records.
