Jeff Karoub has been gaining acclaim performing his original songs across his home state of Michigan, the Great Lakes region and beyond. The singer, guitarist, fiddler and mandolinist likes to tell stories through music, evident in songs on his debut album, such as 'Made by Motown,' and his follow-up collections, 'Find a Shore,' 'Northern Cranes,' 'Pieces Break' and 'Between the Commas.' He has taken his rhythm-and-roots acoustic sound to many stages, and has been featured on radio and TV stations across the Midwest, as well as Canada, the U.K. and New Zealand. He also performs with Garrison Corner, an Americana band with Michigan and Oklahoman accents.
“Karoub seems to make a conscious effort to ensure his songs and vocals are imbued with the best traditions of past singer-songwriters.”
Andrew Frolish - Americana UK
“Pieces Break carries strength in its honest fragility. Shimmering guitars. The finality of walking away and accepting things as they are — broken, better left apart. But the song makes it feel okay. The vocals carry the kind of wisdom that comes from years of experience and deep introspection. It's storytelling and picture painting through song. Pieces Break immediately told me that Jeff Karoub has some stories to tell —and I can't wait to hear more.”
Dan MacDonald - host, Hear+Now on 93.9 The River and AM800-CKLW
"Great new roots music from Jeff Karoub!"
Rob Reinhart - Rob Reinharts Essential Music, WDET, on Pieces Break
“I LOVE the new album. It will be on my 'Faves' list after three spins! Congrats. You are a very talented singer-songwriter and a pleasure to include on the show!”
Lilli Kuzma, host of WDCB's Folk Festival
“Lovely album. You remind me of the singer-songwriters ... (of) the '60s and '70s.”
Gabby Parsons, music director - WMMM-FM
“This disc is a fine example of extraordinary grassroots Americana folk out of southern Michigan. Each of these six pleasing songs seems to lead into the next and I find myself playing it on repeat. They draw the listener in to take a long swim and perhaps 'find a shore' of our own.”
Trish Lewis - The Review
“Rather than just tell us about his new Detroit music project, Jeff Karoub gave us our very own in-studio house concert. Through his songs and words, Jeff's passion for music and Detroit hits just the right notes.”
Joe Linstroth, Current State senior producer - WKAR
“Jeff Karoub creates heartfelt acoustic tributes on this five-track EP to his father (who played for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Motown Records) and his Michigan upbringing. In particular, the moody-but-fetching 'Fall Comes Early' and lilting 'Pitchers’ Duel with Sin' have a vintage, Cat Stevens-like feel.

John Sinkevics - Spins on Music
“Whether he's playing in his living room or a pass-the-hat coffee shop, it feels like he's left a legacy.”
Neal Rubin on 'Made by Motown' - The Detroit News
“I really like the story - I really like the song!”
