In October of 2007, Nate stumbled upon a demo tape he had recorded 12 years earlier with his then band 'Kite'. The rough demo recording was enough to inspire Nate to launch a new band into development that would eventually become 'Flood Empty Lakes'. He called up long-time friend and former bassist for Kite, Chuck Hamilton. Chuck called Taylor. In the meantime, Nate began to play the piano and write music again. In December of 2007, Nate bumped into BJ at a Christmas party. As they talked Nate pitched B.J. the idea of the band's sound. By Jan 2008, the members of Flood Empty Lakes had started rehearsing together. In the following months the band began to put the finishing touches on songs for a demo CD. In April of 2010, BJ left the group to focus on other things and Flood Empty Lakes became a three piece. BJ has since remained involved with the group by playing a few live shows and recording the new album with them. The new release is slated for early 2011.
"Like black-and-white photography giving one mental freedom from the conventions and boundaries of color, Flood Empty Lakes do the same for your brain by relying on their instrumentation to get their message across."

“The best thing to do is to simply be still and watch and listen and take it all in, as the stage, and four guys all very into their playing, take you tripping, sans drugs. I was impressed.

"Musical and dynamic"
Stu Johnson - Moultrie News
"With ambient tracks that profess deep crescendos, heavy guitars and dynamic keys, its sound evokes popular experimental groups such as Mogwai and Red Sparowes."
