A history of local independence: sunny so brite
Originally formed for a neighborhood school play in Tucson, Arizona, sunny so brite made an abrupt entry into Birmingham’s indie-death scene in 1997, for a reason of transition. The band knew they did not fit but thought to look at the bigger picture. Most assumed the band was lost forever but they were just spending their days and nights of summer writing and recording their secrets under scars. Spoiled by the warmth of winter, the band remained in their seclusion room to consider their way of life. They decided until they became brighter, better, they would just continue to meet every thursday to raise their soul. They have spent their time wisely and now it is time for their curtain call.
“It's just inevitable that in the process of this uncovering, this genuine music making, you'll be knocked over in some way.”
Derek Silver - CD Baby
“The melodies are rich and encircle the entire album with a fruitful passionate display of harmony.”
j-sin - Smothers.net
“Let Green Day soak in the all of the praise for their political attack on the Iraq War; being on a major label and already having multi-platinum discs under your belt will lead to more press praise than a much smaller and virtually unknown but far better post-punk combo can acquire.”
Barry Andrews - Review Centre
“Musically, the group likes to expand their sonic reach, using guitar fuzz to take listeners on a far less straightforward journey. There's a bit of Pink Floyd psychedelia and My Bloody Valentine shoegaze ambiance in the band's sound, which is certainly a welcome change of pace.”
Kyrby Raine - Ink 19
