Biography:

High Desert Band is no more. We had been playing bluegrass and related musical forms in and around Idaho's Treasure Valley from 2003 thru 2012. We put on an energetic show that includes traditional bluegrass and old time country, as well as a growing catalog of original songs; some normal, some quirky comedy, and some just for kids.

High Desert's performances were family friendly, with plenty of songs to please young and old alike. If you weren't smiling, you weren't listening!

The band performed at music festivals, farmer's markets, events, parties and weddings.

Randy Helton and Jerry Firth are both still writing songs occasionally.

Several members formed a new band called Dry Buck. You'll find them on ReverbNation at https://www.reverbnation.com/drybuck

Life is good.

“CREATURE COMFORTS CD REVIEW (exerpt; See full review at The Boise Weekly and in our blog). Kick off your cowboy boots and throw on your dancin' shoes. With some bands, the music demands that you set aside your BMW-driving,9-to-5,pent-up personality for a little guitar-pluckin',finger-lickin',toe-tappin',taters-in-your-stew-style sing-a-long songs. High Desert Band's Creature Comforts is the type of music to get you out dancing with your kids. Songs like "Makin' Noise," with a chorus of "Well I'd honk, toot, squawk, and growl, then haul off and hoot like a big ole' owl" and the mid-song Donald Duck impression, are sure to get little ones singing and stompin', learning the words easily. It makes for a great family chorus on a car ride. "The Road Less Traveled" mentions leaving Boise (the "big city") by name and talks about taking the slow road to anywhere at all. ”
