Full Cord has an extraordinary song base that spans through originals, newgrass, traditional, covers, country, swing, jazz and more. The skill level and training of the members of Full Cord provides a lot of room for stylizing to their hearts content and doing it exceptionally well. With two shows never the same their followers in Michigan try to catch every show never knowing what teaser or new song will be in the set list.
This is not your Grandpa's bluegrass, although they can blow some rocking chairs back with their trad skills.
Full Cord has over 80 years of combined musical experience and is using their extraordinary talent to break the bluegrass stereotype and breath new life into it. They are introducing new styles and arrangements that keep everyone wanting more.
“We found a spot to sit on the soft grass and took in the wonderful sounds of Full Cord. The first song we heard was “Vincent Black Lightning”, a song written by Richard Thompson, that I had heard The Del McCoury band cover a few times. The traditional bluegrass sound was evident with a new-school spice. The guitarist finger picked his way into my mind, as I recall later that night humming many of his riffs. The attention was passed hastily from musician to musician as each was able to showcase their musical talents. As I looked around the main stage field area I began to see many people levitating from their chairs starting to get their boogey on. It was at that moment knew this would be a party.”

“Close to 1,000 people gathered under the shade of large, old- growth trees in front of the band shell at Kollen Park Friday evening as a placid Lake Macatawa breeze tempered the 78degree summer evening air.
In the fourth weekly installment in the 2010 Huntington Bank Summer Concert Series, Holland native and guitarist Eric Langejans and his four- piece band Full Cord — including banjo, mandolin and standup bass — entertained the crowd with original acoustic tunes and bluegrass standards like “Man of Constant Sorrow” of “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” movie fame and “ Truck Drivin’ Man.”

“We rolled up in time to throw our gear up and watch the first band, Full Cord kick our eardrums all over the place. A string band with a kick ass sound, they blew the keys off of my trumpet.”

“The group of Full Cord friends would attend bluegrass festivals and
jokingly mention putting a band together, and then it "just happened,"
said Katie.
"We really started to book (events) after we started to realize that we have a good thing," she said.
