„It is actually half their lifetime; a whopping 15 years during which the seven musicians of Starch have been on the road together. That shows one thing for sure: In this crew the groove is tuned, both musically and interpersonally. This is manifest and even more audible wherever they rock up; from wicked basements over posh jazz clubs to the most prestigious festivals in Montreux, Bangkok or Bangladesh.
No journey is too far, no project too reckless for them not to celebrate it with the flying flags of thundering funk. That special kind of funk which is absolutely distinctive and their specialty. Funk, that is only played by Starch.
Neither missionary nor conservative but full of ideas and without stylistic and geographic boundaries. The refrains mirror the lightness of being on the Australian beaches, the instrumental solos radiate the riotous colors of the vibrant, never sleeping metropolises of Asia and the raps and grooves breathe the coolness of European urbanity, finally culminating in polyglot funk which takes the hearts of the global audience by storm.
The band has proved its high musical level in more than 300 swiss concerts at venues like Jazzfestival Montreux Stravinsky Hall, Blueballs Festival Lucerne, Openair St.Gallen and toured through Germany, Austria, Spain, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia. In the last three years STARCH did successful tours through Australia, Southeastern Asia and China. With their extraordinary stage presence and delight in playing, the seven musicians built their reputation as a first class live-act.”
