Biography:

When Hilde Hefte released her first solo album Down Beat wrote: "She's making waves on the Norwegian scene".

Hilde studied music at Barratt-Dues Music Institute with piano as her main instrument. She has also been playing guitar, alto saxophone and Bb clarinet, and she has studied acting at Nordic Institute for Scene and Studio. For one periode she was teacher at Vest-Agder Music Conservatorium.
She's been giving parts in different plays; for ex. the leading part as Edith Piaf. She has written lyrics, composed music for her own productions as well as for other musicians and singers and she's composed and arranged music for theatre productions. She's been guest singer on various CD productions.
She's released 5 solo albums to wonderful reviews:
1. A tribute to Chet Baker, "'Round Chet's Midnight", named the album of the year in Norway's jazz-magazine Jazznytt. 2. A tribute to the pianist Bill Evans, "Playsong - the music of Bill Evans", this became the album of the year in Norway too. 3. Hildes bossaHefte - a tribute to the great Brazilian music style Bossa Nova. All newspapers in Norway gave the album 5 and 6 stars. This is her only album in her own language. Her 4th album is what she call her memory album "On The Corner" to wonderful reviews as well. After this she went to Prague and recorded her latest album together with her band and The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra "AN EVENING IN PRAGUE" to some outstanding reviews in newspapers, magazines and on NRK TV and Radio. She did a live radio show in N.Y. where they gave her and this CD half an hour airplay.
Her band is the leading jazz musicians and composers in Norway and Sweden: Egil Kapstad, pno (NO), Bjørn Alterhaug, b (NO), Eyvind Wahlen, dr (NO), Nisse Sandström, ten sax (SE), Jan Allan, tr (SE (guest-musician)).
For her work Hilde Hefte has received various grants and prizes.
