Biography:

More than a band or an artist collective, Blasted Mechanism is a group of thinkers gathered around a concept that breaks the barriers of the stage into our daily reality. An evolutive process in wich inspired music and lyrics blend with visual arts and technological concepts to 
create an unforgettable performance, recognized by both public and media.

Since 1996, playing in festivals such as Glastonbury, Sziget festival, Rock for People, Fusion Festival, Festival Sudoeste, Paredes de Coura, Alive or Vilar de Mouros and sharing those stages with names like Chemical Brothers, Rage Against the Machine, The Prodigy, Pearl Jam, Linking Park or Marylin Manson to name a few; Blasted Mechanism won a Golden Globe, were nominated three times for the MTV EMA award, reached number one in Portugal's album sales chart and went gold.

Their first release, “Balaiashi”, came out in 1996 and became an instant sales success; followed by “Plasma“(1999) and a self produced remixes album, “MIX 00”,in 2000. In 2003 they release “Namaste”, in 2005 “Avatara”, in 2007 “Sound in Light- Light in Sound”, a double album, in 2009 “Mind at Large“ the first record to feature augmented reality in its artwork and “Blasted Generation” in 2012. 
The musicians fuse ancestral sounds with new technologies, with their own, self designed, original, instruments such as the “Bambuleco”, the “Kalachakra”, the ” MaeGeri” or the “Onozone”, used to create Blasted Mechanism's unique sound.

In 2009 Blasted Mechanism took 230 fans with them on a plane to the Sete Cidades volcano in the Azores, and these were joined by some more 10 000 local fans to witness the “Mind at Large” album premiere. Also in 2009 they launched an ecological initiative to plant 4000 trees in the floodland of Ribatejo with fans, making a priceless contribution to the preservation of natural landscape.

In 2012 the seventh album, “Blasted Generation“ is released, a tribute to all those who fight to burst the negative bubble of destruction and 
promote a better world, a world of celebration. In this generation Blasted Mechanism go on the road with the “Metatron” an arquitectural geometric stage structure bathed with video-mapping in a futuristic and innovative way that invites the audience to emerge in the band's universe.

In late 2013 Blasted Mechanism, as a soundsystem, start a short club tour in support of what became Portugal's most successful crowdfunding campaign ever.
The group reached it's financial goal and Blasted Mechanism is currently working on their new album for 2015. 

Since 1996 they have been touring around the globe and playing in big festivals among with The Chemical Brothers, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jem, Linking Park, Marylin Manson and others. The group won a golden globe award , were 3 times nominee for MTV awards and achieved 1st place on the top with a gold record.

Blasted musicians connect ancestral sounds with new technology and by making they're own instruments they have created a very special sonority. In 2009 they release for the first time in the world a record that contains Augmented reality in a way that brings the obsolete cd format into a new dimension. The collective is based in Portugal and aim for a sustainable communitarian living based on earth care, energy production, fair share and powerful music.
