The bustling megapolis which the band calls home serves as muse and backdrop for their sonic adventures that celebrates and explore the complexities and contradictions of navigating daily life in the city of dreams and chaos. The music of the 13-piece award winning collective lead by German-Nigerian musician Ade Bantu is a fusion of Afrobeat, Afrofunk, Highlife and Yoruba music. Driven by a strong desire for social justice the band’s lyrics address issues around corruption, injustice, migration, xenophobia and urban alienation. Asides from recording and composing music BANTU have been credited with the recent revival of the live music scene in Nigeria through Afropolitan Vibes a monthly concert series & music festival that they have been hosting for over 7 years in Lagos. The show has featured over 160 top Nigerian and international acts and was voted as “one of the world's best music events of the moment" by The Village Voice. BANTU has recorded with the likes of Patrice, Nneka, Xavier Naidoo, Tony Allen, Orlando Julius, UB40, Gentleman and many others.
“In this latest 10-track offering from the 13-man band, Bantu vividly x-rays Nigeria’s perennial socio-political problems, in the most relatable manner; and while the album preaches that change is possible, listening to it would tell you why.”
CHINONSO IHEKIRE - The Guardian
“Three years after their last release, BANTU presents a new album titled "Everybody get Agenda". Its motor is a rousing Afrobeat, driven by a sharp brass set of trombone, trumpet and saxophone”
Daniel Bax - Amnesty International Magazine
“The takeaway message from the album is clear: Africans are suffering from dishonest leadership. It's time to rediscover people's power.”
