Biography:

The consort of early music CONCERTO ANTICO was founded by Yanko Marinov in 2000. Since then its activity (concerts, recordings and open lectures) aims to present the music of late Renaissance, Baroque and Gallant style not focused on the call for a conceivably original sound (the idea of “authenticity”) but on the internal substance of the music and its sense for the spirituality of each one of us. In their performance they implement in practice the concept of the Affects, the rhetoric (or poetic) figures constructing the music of the epoch, the connection of human with the harmony of spheres, historical motion of the music as procession of thought through the centuries.

CONCERTO ANTICO has performed at the Sofia Music Weeks (2008), at the Sofia Baroque Arts Festival (2007 – 2009), Festival de Musica Antiga in Barcelona (2007, 2008) and at the Fabulous Fringe series of the renowned Early Music Festival in Utrecht (2008, 2009), where their participation was described by critics as “the ultimate proof that ‘new’ Europe knows what to do with early music”.
