Born in Providence, RI, Jon Hope is a first generation West African, who is the oldest of three children raised by their single mother. His strict upbringing and abstract outlook serve as the creative force behind his musical works. As the music industry began to change in the mid to late 2000's, Jon Hope utilized his instincts and resources to cultivate his fanbase. He took to the internet and wore many hats as he independently released music as well as booking his own tours. As a result of his efforts, Jon Hope's music was featured on high profile websites like Billboard and XXL and placed multiple videos on MTV networks. He was also the supporting act on various tours with Nas, Wale, B.O.B. In 2010, Jon Hope saw himself performing on the stages of major music festivals such as the Kah Bang Music Festival, CMJ Music Marathon, and SXSW.

Jon Hope has used his music as a catalyst for endeavors beyond the stage. He has done voiceover work, hosting, and landed small acting roles. His hit single 'Better' is the official song for the Make It Better project, a non profit organization which provides awareness of the problematic bullying of LGBT youth. Hope also travels abroad as a motivational speaker sharing his experiences and inspiring others to realize their potential.
