Press:

"The band had to jump through some fiery hoops to get this album released, and listeners will be pleasantly surprised by the band’s evolution from a four piece to a more orchestral, ambitious ensemble. Though not genre-specific, this doesn’t mean they lack a sound, they’ve created their own – and it’s tight, exuberant, interesting and intelligent"
Jamie Manser - Zocalo Magazine

“The Tryst are exceptionally experimental; their songs are unpredictable and apt to head in unexpected directions. Although Keli Carpenter's sure vocals are always out front, the band is in it with her more than for her, and the influence of individual players is heard on every track.”
Linda Ray - Tucson Weekly

"2010 TAMMIE AWARDS" Tucson Area Music Awards PERFORMANCE AWARDS" Best Jazz Band- The Tryst (R), 43.7 percent
Tucson Weekly - Tucson Weekly

“Tucson band The Tryst walk on a tightrope between jazz and funk with tremendous skill and personal flair. to weave an exotic, seductive sound. Their lead singer Keli Carpenter has among the finest voices in rock today, indie or otherwise.”
McDowell Mountain Music Festival

“The Tryst is a band that cannot be missed! Completely ignoring any trend or flavors of the month in the American indie underground, The Tryst stitch together their jazz, soul, and Latin influences to weave an exotic, seductive energy. Although their sound isn't dated, the Tryst nevertheless ignite flashbacks of the late '60s and early '70s when rock bands weren't afraid of horns and jazzy percussion.”
Z100 New York

“Energetic indie rock artfully laced with funk and soul is the movement that is The Tryst! Drawing from a vocabulary of interesting rhythms and sublime instrumental interplay coupled with fiery vocals, this band produces a show that is uncompromisingly passionate and soulful.”
the GREENROOM - Flagstaff Show Up .com

"great arrangements, tight playing by everyone and what a voice!! Sensual, sexy, funky, delicious!! If you popped any one of these tracks on the "groovy" scale it'd read "one at a time please"!

"2009 TAMMIE AWARDS" Tucson Area Music Awards Best Jazz Band- The Tryst (R), 22.1 percent
The Arizona Review

“There's nothing like following an awesome band from the get-go, and I feel blessed to have known The Tryst since 2005. Though they've been together for five years, the band continues to pick up fans and blow people away - not only because singer Keli Carpenter and the guys are fabulous musicians that comprise one of the best bands in Tucson, but also because they are wonderfully awesome human beings.”
Jamie Manser - Zocalo Tucson Magazine

“The Tryst is a smooth-sailin, hard-rocking sextet from Tucson, Arizona. Their sounds have reverberated off the desert hills for just over 5 years. They have produced two solid studio albums, with a third currently in the making. Their music has its roots in classical jazz, with influences from rock, funk, latin, blues and folk, making it accessible, unique and always surprising.”
the Compound Grill - jambase.com

“TUCSON (AZR) -- The Tryst has worked tirelessly, consistently playing shows throughout the Southwest and quickly becoming one of the top concert draws in Tucson, Arizona. With a lively and loyal fan base, their performances never disappoint. Despite occasional comparisons, The Tryst maintains a style that is unique. Drawing from a vocabulary of soul, jazz, rock and funk, The Tryst artfully laces their music with Latin and world rhythms.”
Arizona Reporter

““Contenders in three categories for the 2010 TAMMIES (Tucson Area Music Awards) – best jazz band, best female vocalist and best horn player. Come and see why they are deserving of such accolades!””
Carolyn Classen - Tucson Citizen

“The event's clever construct—nine acts executing a "Cactus Catfight" between the two legendary Arizona vocalists; Stevie Nicks and Linda Ronstadt, drew a sizable crowd to Plush for a fundraiser benefiting the Tucson Artists and Musicians Healthcare Alliance. The Tryst blew it out of the park for Nicks, thanks to the gorgeous girl harmonies on "Crystal" during the closing set. The Ronstadt and Nicks songs that still play in memory are, by and large, production-heavy, with fleshy instrumentation. The Tryst had that; the others didn't. End of story.”
