This is "get down on it" music, with soulful and stylish vocals, infectious bass lines and guitar licks, set to a thumping, rhythmic pocket that keeps the crowd moving. No electronics and no digitized sounds, just pure, unadulterated groovy tunes. Taking a cue from legendary funk masters, IDC carries with it a heavy influence from artists like Curtis Mayfield, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, Kool and the Gang, Isley Brothers, Tower of Power and The Meters - music that provided the foundation for rise of hip-hop, acid jazz and break-beat culture, and still gets people on their feet to dance the night away.
