Biography:

Po'Boys Brass Band is a New Orleans-style brass/funk/rock band. The four-trombone front produces a sonic explosion of sound not known by any other brass band standard. Think less Dirty Dozen and more Led Zeppelin. With a healthy dose of awesome original music, the Po'Boys are sure to make you dance!

Press:

“Eastman isn't known for being a breeding ground for rock stars, but if there is one thing that the Po Boys did at the Jazz Street Stage it was exactly that: rock.”
Willie Clark - City Newspaper

“When I headed over to see the Po Boys Brass Band Friday night on the Jazz Street Stage I felt like I was walking into a really happening party.”
Jesse Hanus - City Newspaper

“the Po'Boys Brass Band moved the air big time Saturday night into a swirling, bombastic boogie blast with chunks of people in it”
City Newspaper

“the Po' Boys Brass Band have turned trombones and tubas cool with their original blend of New Orleans jazz, funk and rock.”
Emily Shearing - Insider Magazine

“the Boys' meaty four-trombone wall of sound and freight-train groove melted my cynicism away”
Saby Reyes-Kulkarni - City Magazine

“Horns, shmorns. This is a big, bad, balls-out rock band. The band has really tightened its attack and loosened its attitude. There's simply nowhere to hide when it starts to blow.”
City Newspaper

“not just brassy as hell, but funky too”
Michelle Picardo - Freetime Magazine

"New Orleans brass fueled by Eastman School of Music students."
Jeff Spevak - The Democrat and Chronicle

“...a trombone 'n' guitar bend to rock 'n' roll...”
Franke De Blase - City Magazine

“...have quickly made a name for themselves as a versatile performing act...”
Dave Wheeler - The Messenger Post

“[The Po'Boys] put out enough soulful, groove-filled melodies at their live shows to get everyone out of their seats.”
Brendan Giusti - City Magazine

“It's like Dumbo on an acid trip. If Hendrix had played the trombone, it might've sounded like this. ”
Frank DeBlase - City Magazine

“The rhythm section (guitar, drums, and tuba) round out the band and only add to the oddity of the lineup and the fullness of the sound.”
Brendan Giusti - City Magazine

“The band assailed like a fleet of funky bulldozers. The band's slick synchronicity and style overshadows the novelty of being a horn-dominated rock band. I give this band a year before it's huge. No doubt about it. ”
Frank DeBlase - City Magazine
