Considering that the most popular rock and roll acts of 2013 belong to either pop and hip hop stars, or rockers from our parent’s generation, it’s easy for younger rockers to think that rock n’ roll might actually be dead. Fortunately, not everyone is so quick to order a “Do Not Resuscitate.” New Liberty are among a growing group of bands dedicated to revitalizing rock n’ roll. This new movement of old-fashioned hard rock are administering some much needed CPR, but instead of chest-compressions, New Liberty delivers a swift kick to the lungs.
Sick of fighting for stage time with cover bands and rappers in their hometown of Philadelphia, New Liberty piled into a beat up 1976 RV and headed west; crash landing in Ventura, CA in 2011. They spent the next year living, and partying, in the often broke down RV. Frequently camped out in parking lots, uninvited. Showing up uninvited is somewhat of a theme for New Liberty, as well as the namesake of their debut album, The Uninvited.
With their own unique combination of 1970s blues-based guitar rock, blistering 1980s heavy metal roots, and edgy yet insightful lyrics, covering the spectrum of rock n’ roll topics: sex, drugs, booze and the devil, New Liberty has quickly taken the Ventura County hard rock scene by storm.
Their relentless touring up and down the west coast/Midwest, and over a dozen appearances at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas has helped New Liberty expand their audience well beyond their humble Ventura home base. And with three different songs from The Uninvited appearing on MTV's Ridiculousness with Rob Dyrdek, New Liberty shows no signs of slowing down their take over of the rest of the hard rock universe.
Building on their current success, the future looks bright for the boys in New Liberty. In addition to a pending European tour slated for late 2013, New Liberty is current recording new material at Bright Mountain Studios, with famed underground producer, Roger Leo Camero. Working on a new music model, the band is releasing singles with artwork from different artists, culminating in the release of an E.P. towards the end of 2013 and another full-length album release in 2014. Also, Red Sparrow Media will be releasing a documentary, featuring the band on and off the stage. So tap the keg and turn up the tunes because New Liberty is just getting started.

“Americans knows to remind on some well-known names from the past era, and I have found some similarities with the earliest Def Leppard style. A band “look” as a coherent team, and all of present songs posses strong melody, distant playings, relevant production, and generally acceptable and positive view as well. (Translated)”

“Echoes of Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and Motorhead and ’70s Southern rock abound throughout. (Check out the dirty Southern metal slide bar hook on “Me and My Whiskey.”) Listen for well-executed Megadeth meets Quiet Riot vibes on the anthem “Eat Your Heart Out,” and what could have been a lost track from Appetite For Destruction on the B side, “Can’t be Divided,” which the band wrote for VCReporter’s Protest Project compilation. No sooner than your whiskey buzz evolves into that dewy-eyed sentimental moment of inebriation, you get your one solid monster ballad, “Take it or Leave it,” and you’re left with the dusty shuffle of the country-laden “The Good” and the haunting sludge of “The Ugly,” which leaves us asking in vain, where’s the bad?”
Chris Mastrovito - VC Reporter
“The album is "The Uninvited," a coincidental title shared with a 1944 supernatural ghost picture as well as a powerhouse original rock band that was a smash in these parts a decade or so ago. New Liberty plays guitar-driven rock without an ounce of scream-o. When long hair comes back, the boys in the band will be like gods.

“What’s the difference between those who make it and those who don’t? Talent, connections and money usually are big factors, but there’s something else:
It’s that wild-eyed ambition. A do or die, in it to win it, relentless, positive attitude that almost forces people to get behind them. If you haven’t met them already, please give a warm welcome to New Liberty, a band that embodies all those characteristics of testicular fortitude.”
