- Philadelphia singer/songwriter Tony Mecca serves wisdom from deep in the inner city via a delicious storytelling-based blueprint that inventively incorporates elements of Pop, Blues, Folk and Rock 'n Roll. His stories fuse equal amounts of humor and sympathy to thoughtfully examine life experiences, personalities and real people dealing with ordinary and sometimes surreal circumstances.
- Through live performances from D.C. to NYC with his Heavy MeNtal Gypsys, and his steadily growing recorded output of albums ... Purple Monkeys (2003) - Princes of the New Dark Age (2005) - Hello, Goodbye & Everything in Between (2007) - Fun (2011) - Heavy Mental Gypsies (2016) - Fractured Poetry (2020) - Mecca has developed a loyal following in and around his hometown that's gradually infiltrated other regions both nationally and abroad.
- During 2016/2017, Mecca not only released Heavy Mental Gypsies (2016), but also remixed and remastered his first two albums, Purple Monkeys (2003) and Princes of the New Dark Age (2005). He also began work on his sixth album, while signing several exclusive licensing contracts for many of his songs.
- Keeping busy through 2018/2019, he continued work on his 6th studio album, while releasing two singles, Terrifying Lies / The Dark Side of Love, and the remixed editions of Purple Monkeys and Princes of the New Dark Age. 2019 presented a heavy live schedule with both his Heavy MeNtal Gypsys and the 33 1/3 Live Killer Queen Experience - while continuing a strict recording schedule to finish the new album slated for 2020.
- NOW, July 31, 2020 - Tony's new album, FRACTURED POETRY, has been release in CD format. It will be AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE - and in download and streaming formats.
““In musical currency this CD is both an honest bargain and a high-end windfall. Tony Mecca doesn’t know how to present it any other way. And in the end, Heavy Mental Gypsies is a gift, a very generous and thoughtful one.””
Joe Van Blunk - Philly Music Blog
““Tony Mecca has a love affair with Rock and Roll. If you're fortunate enough to catch his band, or to give a good listen to his latest CD (Heavy Mental Gypsies), you will fall in love too. Mecca's music is like the Broad Street Subway: Deep, thunderous, rattling and direct. It's quite a ride. It will get you there.””
Louis Greenstein - Amazon
"There are songs that are just aural wallpaper, chewing gum for the ears. Then there are those special songs that become part of your life. It's a rare artist that can capture the universality of human emotions and experiences and lay them out in a song. Tony Mecca does just that. He reveals the rawness of the city streets and the eloquence of life and presents it as a symphony of the human experience. Of all the many artists I have worked with over the decades, it is Tony's songs that have stayed with me and become the soundtrack of my life."
Joe McSorley - Producer/Engineer
"What keeps me coming back to see Tony Mecca live is his songs. Tony is a solid songwriter with catchy melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and music that transports you to another place. Put that together with a band that plays flawlessly and you have a top-notch night of entertainment. Bravo!"
Cyndy Drue - WMGK-FM Philadelphia

Mark Evans/Jeanne Mannix-Evans - Great Fans
“HELLO, GOODBYE & EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN is the Everly Brothers, Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp from a blender, poured into melodic Americana via street-level tales of everyman and his or her tales of love and longing, work, and watching life play itself out. A great slice of Americana!”
John Collinge - Progression Magazine
“Beautiful east coast Romanticism! "HELLO, GOODBYE …" recounts tales of life/love in the blue-collar South Philly neighborhood where Mecca has spent his life. “Americana rootsy” w/ lyrics reminiscent of Springsteen or Cohen but with a gritty Philly twist. A wonderful effort - Highly recommended”
