MELODIC ROCK group based in Dublin, Ireland...
Though re-launched in 2010, Bluesun's inception started during the summer of 2000. With various lineup changes it was only in 2010 when the definitive lineup was realised. With the late Joe Strummer's encouragement, main songwriter and singer/rhythm guitarist BREW returned to Ireland from London and set out forming the band.
Bluesun represented Ireland at Manchester's In The City music industry festival following their appearance on the BEST OF IMRO TOUR, with BREW subsequently being asked to represent Ireland further at Nashville's Tin Pan South Songwriters' Festival for three consecutive years. The band toured USA three times over the years and continue to be well-received to this day and eagerly awaited to return.
Fate gave the band a support slot to US 80's rockers CHEAP TRICK at Dublin's Vicar Street as well as playing support twice to Dublin legends, ASLAN. The band was also shortlisted to play support to THE PRETENDERS on their US Winter Tour 2003. Bluesun's name incidentally is also the title of a Pretenders' song of the same name!
Radio airplay in the UK and Ireland soon followed. Established hits like "Someway", "Whatever Happened to Love", "Sundown" and "Convinced" soon became catchy favourites for listeners. Two EP's and a Live Album recorded from Dublin's Temple Bar Music Centre, now The Button Factory, all sold out quickly in retail outlets in Ireland and abroad.
2011 saw the band fresh from performing a showcase at Fontanas in New York City. Bluesun's music is firmly established in over 50 college radio stations across America with these various stations all linked to the CMJ Marathon Charts. The new single "DUMPED" presents a new Bluesun with an edgier rock sound whilst still retaining their indie origins. Highlight of 2014 so far was performing at their first ever festival at Vantastival in Dundalk, County Louth where critics concluded that Bluesun was the standout guitar band of the entire weekend. 2015 heralded another Vantastival appearance and new single SCRAPING recorded at Paul Woodward Studios in Dublin is now available through iTunes!!
BREW signed a worldwide publishing with BMI through GD78 Music Publishing Ireland in January 2016. The band are set to release their third new EP containing their newest single "For The Last Time" this Spring 2017.
Bluesun set to go supernova real soon!!!

"Blue Sun were a standout rock act on Saturday, complete with a Slash sounding guitarist, an enigmatic front man with a great voice and southern rock influence that belies their age. They sounded great, best guitar work this weekend I think, and if they’re this good, this young, the future is bright for them. …….As the lead man from Blue Sun said this is ““Woodstock in Co Louth”
Colm O'Maolagain - Festival and Gig Guide Ireland
“A very talented group that has the catchiest songs i've ever witnessed in Dublin, their stage personality brings a liking to them that cant be avoided!”
David Kozak - FREAK OUT LIVE!! Dublin
“A mix of the Clash, the Undertones and The Smiths, plus the band name from the Isle Of View (Pretenders acoustic album) what is there not to like about Blue Sun, check out their songs on Reverbnation. - Simon”
Simon Gadd - Pretenders 977 Radio
“Fast establishing themselves as a live force around Dublin, Blue Sun continue to gig like mad...Blue Sun will be providing a here-come-the-good-times soundtrack to the start of Euro 2012.
The homegrown four-piece make the classic side of rock their own. With plenty of riffage, a few decent onstage shapes and a formidable rhythm section, they'll likely raise the roof. Hard rock done well, essentially.”

“Blue Sun living legends! check these guys out you will not be dissappointed”
Irish Independent Music Scene
“I love Scraping. It has an authentic, instantaneous new wave/punk sound.
I'm glad there isn't too much distortion - I actually think it gives it a
fresh feel. It feels like you're actually in the room with the band. Well
done! Great talent.”
Nigel Homer - Nigel Homer Music - LONDON review of 'Scraping'
"BLUE SUN- Mad for it and enter...tainingly shambolic funned up ska punkers …Mad Caddies kinda vibes, gotta be a live sensation.."
BugBear Promotions LONDON - FIRST EVER BRITISH REVIEW!!
"Fresher's Week BLUESUN play a 'punky pop' reminiscent of the Ramones in their Spectre days with vast, wide open chords & an emotion which belies BREW's boundless energy. Given the band's cross-genre musical style & BREW's amazing stage presence it's no wonder they did so well across the pond. I have yet to meet someone who wasn't blown away by their live performances. If you see them coming your way check them out; you won't regret it."
Stephen McMullin - THE VOICE
"I just finished listening to your CD......Brilliant! I have been a big fan of that indie pop/rock sound ie: the Gin Blossoms, Del Amitri, Lemonheads, etc.. It's uplifting to listen to and it has an edge that lends itself readily to live performance."
Steve McVicker (Mic-Vic Music, BMI) - FIRST EVER AMERICAN REVIEW!!
"Having landed their own feet with several choice gigs like Vicar Street, the Quartet are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with."
Stephen McMullin - THE VOICE
"Another band worthy of close attention is BLUESUN, comprising three North Dublin lads and one American singer. They purvey a laid back form of melodic rock, with a solid beat and classic rock structures as on 'Whatever Happened to Love?' It has a great chorus and the arrangement leaves spaces for the band's musical abilities to shine through. Their single 'Sundown' is a more sprightly a more sprightly affair, an uptempo rocker that sets the pulses racing among even the most moribund."
Jackie Hayden - Hot Press
"A great looking band with original style, BLUESUN's material has an easy-going summery feel. As a unit they gel extremely well together and the frontman is fantastic. There is an understated attitude behind his vocal delivery that really enriches the material."
Sally Munro - Hot Press
"Already highly regarded on the local music scene, BLUESUN clearly know what they are doing. BREW, the Front Man, is possessed of true Star Quality, his songs are original and inspired."
Colm O'Hare - Hot Press
"I've seen BLUESUN a few times, their brand of Indie Rock is more upbeat & pop-y than I usually admit to liking, but there's a great stage presence there. After a couple of his own tunes he (BREW) launched into an acapella version of 'Landslide' introducing it with 'this is a song the Dixie Chicks f'ing murdered, I'm here to put it right.' And just like that, he did..."
