October 85 Tenerife. For three years Des worked in various clubs in Tenerife starting at the Crows Nest and going on to Prismas, Bananas, Tramps and ending up at the legendary Bobby’s bar.
January 1989 arrived and Des went to Canada to visit friends & stayed for six months where he was offered club work & his own weekly radio show on C I U T Toronto. June 89 and Des was ready to head back to Tenerife sunshine.
SUMMER 1989 Des was asked to do a three-day trial at the new BCM Planet dance in Mallorca Spain. Des became the dj resident of one of Europe’s biggest clubs holding 6,300 people over 3 floors, the main room for Des held up to 5,000 clubbers & with a rave scene about to explode it became one of the best dance clubs in the world & although there was no count back then it’s the number 5 club in the world right now 2014.
Des spent 14 years of summer seasons 7 nights a week entertaining clubbers from across the world with help from dj’s Fabio & GrooveRider, CJ Mackintosh, Graham park, Tony Humphries, Norman Jay, Mathew B, Ray Keith, Westbam, CJ Bolland, Frank de Wulf, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Frankie Knuckles RIP, Carl Cox, Erick Morillo,
Jeremy Healy, Tony de Vit RIP, Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Harry Romero, Judge Jules, George Morel, Steve Lawler, Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish, Basement Jaxx, Tiesto, Pete Tong, to name a few ☺ all playing alongside Des through Mallorca summers.
Winter October 94 Tokyo’s new VELFARRE club owned by Avex Trax records and a record $40,000,000 was spent building this state of the art club in central Tokyo. Des was supposed to stay for three months. After a fantastic 10 months in Japan plus guest performances on MTV Asia, touring Japan with people like the prodigy, reel to reel, George morel and Eric Morillo.
Summer 96 and BCM reached new heights with DJ’s like Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez, Sasha, Seb Fontain, Lisa Pin UP, Tall Paul, MTV doing live filming & Radio1 weekends all regular sessions with Des.
1999 ‘WELCOME TO THE DANCE’ came out.. Pete Tong made ‘Welcome to the Dance’ his essential selection on Radio 1 and it had gained huge support from DJs Seb Fontain, Sonique, Carl Cox, Dave Pearce, Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold.
2001 More travelling and back to Dubai, desert Zone party’s & Club Atlantis (the old one)
Welcome To The Dance’ was released in Belgium. At the end of 99 ‘Welcome to the dance’ was signed to Code Blue (Warner Bros) UK ‘Welcome to the Dance’ entered the UK Charts at No 5. and the company had one of the most successful dance tracks to date. He also had a UK No. 3 hit with his remix of Watergates ‘Heart of Asia’.
His third track ‘The World Is Yours’ was collaboration with Peter Lutz (Lasgo) and released in Europe in 2001.
October 2001 ‘Welcome to the Dance’ was released during the Miami Winter Conference 2001 and became major US club hit.
Following the success of ‘Welcome To The Dance’ a mix album was released in USA for Max Music.
European mix album (world famous DJ’s) was recorded live from Room At The Top, Scotland. Also featured on 4 different Ministry of sound albums.
2002 was to be the last 7 day a week season for BCM but continued till 2009 doing odd nights for them. Des has done the Ibiza summer too with clubs old El Divino, Eden, Play2, Es Paradis but Mallorca is home. 2010 Des Joined Pacha Mallorca & still works with them on some dates, he’s also still busy with travelling dj work & has daily radio show with www.radioonemallorca.com ‘how busy do you need to be’ ☺
Summer 2014 saw Des take the DJ residency at new house music only club in Mallorca The Project to great success & had the pleasure of friend George Morel coming to play.
Since the early 90’s Des has spent time playing in England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland. Across the world Des has toured & played in Belgium, Austria, Poland, Holland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Dubai, London Ministry, Thailand Ministry of sound, Taiwan Ministry of sound, Singapore Ministry of sound, Korea, South Africa, Finland, Malta, Corsica, Cyprus, Poland, Italy, Germany east & west, India Bacardi blast tours & even the tropical Maldives luxury island W resort has had Des playing their prestigious club 15 Below with people like Kylie Minogue & Dolce of D&G partying to his tunes, for 4 months (tough life) & winter 2014 he’s resting at Six Senses Laamu in Maldives doing his chill soul jazzy thing ☺
