Biography:

This band's unique lineup starts with banjo and turntables and adds upright bass sprinkled with vocals and keys to create a sound like no other. Their freshman CD, "Daydream", features a ground breaking mixture of banjo playing styles with a hip hop groove.

The Turbo Pro Project started one day while Turbo was jamming w/ a Roland drum machine. He set up a basic hip hop beat and the banjo notes flowed effortlessly. He quickly realized that a band needed formed to get his ideas out there. This led to seeking a DJ, as that was a key ingredient. A search led to Burlington NC's DJ Pro. Upon hearing about Turbo's idea he didn't bat an eye. The two exchanged beats, ideas and eventually met, cutting two demos shortly thereafter. This led to a band forming in 2007. In early 2008 the band's freshman CD, 'Daydream', was released.

The next phase led to guest members joining the project, some eventually becoming full time members. The band toured the Southeast playing esteemed venues and festivals. They also were involved with unique studio projects. LA/NYC based artist Kianga Ford hired the band to score a walking narrative titled 'The Story of this Place'. Steve Crump, six time Emmy winner/WBTV reporter, featured the band in a banjo documentary. It traces the banjo's roots from Africa to America titled 'Sojourn of the Strings'. This trend continues with current members, Turbo, DJ Deacon, Kim France, and RnB. The result is a blend of styles like no other!
