Five piece Melbourne based Mercury White are known for their energetic and extravagant live performances and their fusion of many genres, mixing catchy choruses, hypnotic riffs and intricate beats into a fresh injection of original Indie/Electro Pop.
Influenced by Muse, Arcade Fire and The Naked & Famous, the Mercury White sound includes everything from delicate distant chime piano and electric violin to in-your-face distorted guitar.
Mercury White represented Australia at the Emergenza Competition For Unsigned Bands in the world final, held at the Taubertal Festival in Rothenburg, Germany, August 10th -12th 2014. The festival attracted more than 20,000 people and out of 18 finalists from around the world, Mercury White was voted 4th by a panel of judges including UK promoters, music publishers and record company executives.
Mercury White have also recently recorded a 3 track EP with ARIA nominated producer and engineer Lachlan Mitchell, who has produced bands such as The Jezabels, Something For Kate and Elliot The Bull.
The first release from the EP, “Bullet For My Baby”, will be released in early October, 2014.
In 2010, this first single from the GRAVITY SAYS EP 'Sticks and Stones', generated a lot of success with its music video featuring on ABC's RAGE as the Indie Clip of the Week and also featuring on Channel 10's music program. The track also featuring on Channel 7's Surfsport. The title track from GRAVITY SAYS featured on the Melbourne COMMONWEALTH GAMES coverage on Channel 7. After successful shows over the years including support shows such as TRIAL KENNEDY and RED INK, ART VS SCIENCE, THE ANGELS and BRITISH INDIA , after a bit of a hibernation through summer Mercury White are back armed with a new sound and a new album. The self-titled album was launched on June 7th at Revolver with support from Alex Anonymous plus other awesome guests.
