Biography:

AR3A is David on Vocals, Synths/Samples, Drums, Guitars, Bass, Programming, Recording/Production. Some songs also include co-founder James on Synths/Samples, Programming, and PreProduction.

History: Originally recording engineers and producers in the Houston area, David and James met during a fateful studio session in late 1991. The two began sharing unfinished ideas with each other and immediately noticed that one person's unfinished idea, would perfectly overlap the other...like they had been writing together all along. It wasn't long before the two were locked in the studio for days on end working non-stop on new songs and experiments in sound design. This work resulted in the creation of "AREA" and three successful singles (Lost, Nothing Ever, and Klockwerk) that became popular in many local Dance clubs, like Houston's own "Numbers".

In mid-1995, James left the group to further pursue his recording degree out of state. David continued creating new music under the "AR3A" moniker from that point forward. Since that time, AR3A has released over 30 singles and until February 2010, have opted to forgo traditional full-length CD releases and Record Labels. Thanks to the internet, David and James have begun collaborating again, resulting in a new track; Suck the Poison Out.

2010 brought "Pieces of Life"; the band's first LP to ever be publicly released. It includes fan favorites Jack the Stripper Ripper, Suck the Poison Out, Devil's Sky, and CR45H.

Press:

“Marco: In "Pieces of Life" I hear many different influences: IDM, broken beats, ambient, but also a familiarity with the latest Korn albums produced by Atticus Ross (NIN). Have you been influenced by these genres or do your roots have other sources? David: AR3A's sound began with the influences of some of our favorite bands; Depeche Mode, Front 242, Gary Numan, Skinny Puppy, Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb, and the list goes on. That was the foundation of our early sound. These same influences were the groundwork of other artists' music as well, around this time. That was about eighteen years ago, which makes me pretty nauseous to say out loud. But, when you consider that we've spent those years experimenting, with many of the same tools and in the same mind-set as NIN and the like, it's no surprise that we all arrive at sounds that are at least somewhat reminiscent of one another. I've personally kept AR3A locked away and hidden, resulting in a very select few who know we exist. So...”

“The "Pieces of Life" album is the first full studio achievement of the band whose previous releases were the singles mostly. It’s a very interesting album at the same time, mixing guitar driven industrial rock influences with murky trip-hop and drum’n’bass electronics.”
