Late Night Shopping are Nikki Jones and Shaun Salmon who both play keyboard, computer and vocals.
‘Slide Along the Coast’ is the first Late Night Shopping release, apart from Christmas disks to friends, a couple of videos on Youtube and two Music/Video performances.
Shaun and Nikki are excited and chuffed to have been welcomed into the Sleepy Music family.
Bit o’ background:
Before exercising her talents round the Mac, Nikki was drummer with Perth punk/folk innovators, the Brautigans (during the early nineties) and has played with various bands, choirs, and comedians since then.
Shaun has always had a connection to music as a lyricist but only moved into sustained music-making with the advent of DAW (digital audio workstation) and sequencer technologies especially Garageband.
Before forming Late Night Shopping in Jan 2005, Nikki and Shaun had spent years trying to write music together but with only a badly tuned piano, a cassette recorder and an old cat to help them their efforts bore little fruit.
Then whilst on holiday, a friend introduced Jones to Garageband.
She became instantly besotted with how easily she could compose and arrange using the program. She stayed up half the night working on music and then carried on the next day. When she returned to Perth she introduced Salmon to the new digital world.
Finally technology – and Shaun and Nikki’s ability to use it – had come together, making Lat Night Shopping possible…
