Biography:

A wise man once said, “Through suffering you grow…” and New Orleans hip-hop MC SpitRaw is a perfect example of that.

Being naturally bright and exceptionally talented in most areas of academics, writing came easy to Spit and he quickly found passion, solace, and healing though words. After settling in at his high school Spit began sharing his poems with anyone who would listen and quickly gained a following. It was of those followers that suggested Spit convert his poetry into songs; always up for a challenge he agreed. He was always a lover of music, but something about hip-hop captivated Spit in a way poetry never had. Soon he could be found anywhere there were listeners spitting the realest mind bending metaphoric rhymes most had ever heard; hence the moniker “SpitRaw.”

SpitRaw continued to rap for fun until a 2006 chance meeting with producer Blitzz transformed his hobby into a career. Shortly after, he collaborated with Hut studios where he recorded the first half of his freshmen album “Lost and Found” which garnered noteworthy regional success. Since 2008, SpitRaw has been honored to share a stage with the likes of Jay Electronica, Mos Def, Camp Lo, Fiend, Mia X, Cyhi the Prince, Nesby Phips, Currensy, Wiz Khalifa, and Stalley. He has also been a part of the notable local group SuperUgly. SpitRaw is the Executive Assistant of local art company Element Movement and a member of New Orleans’ own GoDj’s as one of it's few EmCees. SpitRaw prides himself on channeling the sorrows of his past into a positive art form that is both therapeutic for him as well as his fans.
