Todd 'Dammit' Kerns, a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer, is the current bass player/backing vocalist for ex Guns N Roses legend SLASH and lead singer/guitaris of The Age of Electric. He can also be found touring with Canadian cover band Toque, or touring with his sold out acoustic shows. He also fronts Todd Dammit & The Anti-Stars, and Original Sin LV.
Born in Canada, Todd first garnered attention with his band THE AGE OF ELECTRIC, who went on to attain Gold status as well as being nominated for a Juno, Canada's Grammy. THE AGE OF ELECTRIC worked with legendary producers such as Bob Rock (Metallica) and Gil Norton (Foo Fighters). THE AGE OF ELECTRIC is still remembered as one of Canada’s favorite alternative rock bands of the 90’s. (Gold Selling Album Make a Pest a Pet, with their song "Remote Control" on the Diamond Certified Big Shiny Tunes 2)
After THE AGE OF ELECTRIC Todd and brother, former AOE bass player, John formed STATIC IN STEREO with youngest brother Ryan. STATIC IN STEREO’s self titled album went on to receive critical acclaim and secured Todd’s place as a fixture on the Canadian music scene.
In 2004 Todd released his first solo album GO TIME. A collection of original songs influenced by the artists closest to Todd’s heart including T-Rex, Bowie, MC5 and The Stooges, GO TIME is in a class of its own, getting back to the heart of true Rock N’ Roll.
Todd has appeared on albums by such artists as THE MATTHEW GOOD BAND, BIF NAKED and THE NEVERENDING WHITE LIGHTS. He is respected as one of Canada’s most dependable vocalists. In the past (and present) Todd has delved into his other passion, production and songwriting with other musicians. He has produced and written with a number of artists and continues to share his knowledge of all things musical with people he believes in.
In 2007 Todd moved to Las Vegas and formed Vegas' most beloved rock band THE SIN CITY SINNERS with former Faster Pussycat guitarist, Brent Muscat. The Sinners released their debut cd, Exile On Fremont Street, in early 2010.
In spring of 2010 Todd was asked to tour with former Guns N Roses legend Slash in support of his solo album.
Todd divides his time between Slash and his many projects.
In 2017 his "Todd Dammit Kerns Anti-Star IV was nominated Best Of Nam, and received Guitar World's Platinum Award.
He also owns "Dammitwear" a clothing line featuring "DAMMIT"; DAMMITWEAR X AGENTROYALE designs are often sold out after launching. In 2016 they launched their first homeware with skull candles, and in 2017 they launched their first jacket that sold out within 30 minutes.
““Keys” has a lighter vibe that focuses more on the vocals. I would say this one is my favourite of the four tracks. I quickly found myself singing along and tapping my feet. If you’ve yet to hear The Age of Electric, this is the track that I would recommend to you.”
Jenna Melanson - Canadian Beats
“His rich and muscular voice is in full form, and suits the passionate rock ballads here like "You Can Always Go Home", "The Devil In Me" and "So Close So Far".”
Kerry Doole - New Canadian Music
“Borrowing Trouble is an acoustic musical journey in which Todd Kerns paints a beautiful muriel of emotion, pain, and triumph.”
Deb Rao - HardRock Haven
“Borrowing Trouble is one of those records where every song is your favorite, there is nothing to criticize about it, and it’s pretty perfect to be honest.”
Caris Smith - Let The Music Do The Talking
“The opening track, “Nothing Personal” is a strong introduction to an equally strong album with the recurring messages about decisions, life, and self discovery.”
Maria Vela - ALBUM REVIEW: Todd Kerns ‘Borrowing Trouble’
“I Like This - Longtime Canadian alt-rock fans will know Todd as a member of Age of Electric and then Static in Stereo. His current gig, though, is working as Slash's bass player. Somehow he found the time to record a solo album between Slash tours.
The record is called Borrowing Trouble and will be out Tuesday. Here's a sample.”
Alan Cross - I Like This - Alan Cross
“About GO TIME - "No rules and no single genre or style, it combines the likes of Bowie, Stooges, and MC5 to create a perfect rock and roll record. Loud guitars, catchy riffs and crazy powerful vocals from Kerns, what more could you want?”
Caris Smith - Let The Music Do The Talking
“When I interviewed Todd Kerns six years ago at his Burnaby townhouse he was, as I mentioned in the subsequent Local Motion piece, the physical embodiment of the arena-ready rocker. He wasn't playing arenas back then, though; he was getting ready to open for the Tea Party at the Commodore in support of his debut solo album, Go Time!. That album's songs—or "beautiful disasters", as Kerns called them—didn't become the type of chart-toppers that would lead to headlining appearances at hockey rinks, but it doesn't matter now because Kerns has hit the bigtime with famed guitar hero Slash.
Last spring the former Guns N' Roses member asked Kerns to become the bassist and backing vocalist in his touring band, and the former Age of Electric frontman took him up on it. As well as a headlining tour that brought Slash to the Commodore in October, the group has been playing massive festivals around the world, and will be opening act on the next leg of the Ozzy Osbourne tour...”
Steve Newton - Former Age of Electric frontman Todd Kerns living the dream in Slash's band
“Go Time is not as slick as his previous work; this was made more for him than for a record company. Recorded with members of Zuckerbaby, Static in Stereo and Bif Naked, he rocks quite hard on this album. The drumming in particular is very strong, with a good back beat to the music it supports, which is topped off with inexorable guitars. The lyrics are all very personal, concerning lost love, found love and anything else that rouses passion. It is always nice to hear tough love songs where there is sentiment without any contrived embarrassments. The songs are predominately rock with selected moments of solace, or else ricocheting somewhere in between the two.”
Erica Leduc - Todd Kerns
"...this is a non compromising straight ahead rocknroll album in the same vein as Kevin Martin,Josh Todd and Beautiful Creatures."
