Biography:

Punchy, bass-driven pop with a dollop of funk and a soupçon of soul comprise the ingredients for the decidedly fresh sound in this debut EP by Sarah Peterson & The Vision, a collection of original tunes which Sarah calls "pop with a hint of blue-eyed soul".

This eclectic, jazz flavoured blend has an organic vibe which arises in part from the tightness of the band, both musically and emotionally. Old high school friends Sarah, Zac Blahout (guitar), and Ross Burant (bass), study jazz performance in Toronto. Immersed in sounds as diverse as R&B, Motown, Jazz and Pop it's only natural their music would cross the porous borders between genres.

But while the players may be old friends, the band is new. The Vision came together last May when Sarah needed musicians to back her entry in the Landmark Showcase Competition in Ottawa. Naturally, she called upon musical soul mates Zac, Ross, and southpaw drummer James Brint (formerly and collectively know as the "Moonrunners") who were only too happy to oblige. With less than a month of prep and practice, the young band put together a string of drum-tight performances behind songwriter Sarah's soulful vocals. They worked to develop another side to the face of pop by tipping their hats to old musical genres. The judges liked what they heard and they ended up winning both the competition and a whack of valuable studio time.

Since then, the band has focused upon developing their style and laying down these five EP tracks. They've also been honing their performance skills with impressive gigs at Toronto's Opera House and the legendary El Mocambo to name a couple. Infectiously upbeat and surprising mature, Sarah Peterson & The Vision seem poised to follow this tight groove to a bright musical future.
