Scott James is a Long Island, NY based singer-songwriter playing and singing songs with simple melodies blending folk, rock and blues. Over time some of those songs have been arranged for electric and semi-electric formats. Scott, like most of us, observes life from the little glimpses the Universe presents along the way. Sometimes from within his own relationships and experiences. Then there are those that manifest from just watching and wondering... Scott writes of family, love, loss, hope, reclaiming what's his and taking a stand. Scott's influences include Pete Townshend, Neil Young, The Band, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Ray Davies, Mark Knopfler, Tom Petty. So many. Whether playing acoustic or cranking it up, it's about the music, the people and the conversation. Love, Peace and Harmony.
“Played with Dave Sacrestano, Jesse Seigel and "California Dave" on Nov 9 at the Blue Parrot in Massapequa. These guys made me smile all night long. The Blue Parrot has got some potential, what it needs is more people! We jammed, we played songs and watch our friends play darts. We'll let you know the next time we are heading over there. Stay tuned.”

“Jack Halyard's continues to be a lot of fun to play. In February I played solo, this week I will have some special musical friends sitting in. Folks have been coming out to support the music and just have fun. I'm meeting some very nice, very cool new people who inevitably know someone we know. The experience of playing at Jacks has been great and has me looking at some additional venues to play. More about that in March/April.”

“Jack Halyard's is getting cooler every month. Last night was much more a party then a gig. My musical friends James, Bruce, Jimmy, Steve & Diana joined in for the second set & threw down some great music. Took the evening to a whole new level. We keep meeting some great new folks including Steve and Barbara from Oyster Bay, I think, and of course our friends Steve "Disrupter" Amateau and his super cool wife Carin always inspire me. First time in awhile that a dancing couple lost their footing and went down right into the middle of the band; music stand went flying, mic stands were caught in mid-air, that's rock & roll. No injuries, just some unexpected entertainment of sorts. I'll see as many of you as can make it on Feb 4th, back at Jack Halyard's and it will be the first Saturday of the month from that point forward. All the best, Scott.”

“The Conklin Barn gigs are becoming one of my favorites. Last night was no exception. A ton of great music by Will Sargent, Bob Westcott, Radium Dial, Ian Wilder and Jim Frazzitta. As much as I enjoyed playing, and I loved playing, listening to the songwriting, playing and singing of the other folks on the bill was the real payoff. Thanks again to Jim and Wendy.”

“Fun set at the Sagamore Yacht Club in Oyster Bay last weekend followed by an evening at Jack Halyard's playing for the bar and restaurant till about midnight. Thanks to those who showed up for this last minute booking. Jack Halyard's has a nice vibe, excellent food and a great staff.”

“Scott James played a 45 minute set of original songs at the Conklin Barn in Huntington on July 9, 2011 to a barn filled with friends and guests. The audience lent their full support allowing Scott to play and smile for the duration. Scott's song selection comprised songs written over the past ten years capturing his feelings and observations reflecting on a time that has been challenging, eye opening and joyous.”
