Biography:

The baddest foursome in Rock n' Roll- We are Monkeys in Space..

"It has been said that rock is dead, but Monkeys in Space prove that this cliché is far from the truth. The dudes in this band show listeners everywhere that every aspect of rock is alive and it is proven in this EP. With grungy and groovy tunes, MiS reel in the listener with no hesitation. "Supermodel Suitcase" is totally and completely the highlight of the EP. Raspy vocals and groovy guitar make the song so unbelievably rock, it almost hurts. These guys make it obvious that they know rock and they know how to replicate it in the best way possible." - Jordan Mafi (Tuneage Magazine)

"1. How did you get your band name? Johnny Rukkus: Around 22 years old....failing miserably at expected means of living and feeling totally out of place in everyday life...feeling like a monkey plucked from my natural habitat and shot full speed into space. What the hell am I doing here? Jeremy Vara: The name came about one night when Johnny and our original drummer Ryan were partying. I think they were pretty buzzed, playing some music for a friend who described them as “Space Monkeys,” which would make a whole lot of sense if you’d ever partied with those two back when we were 21. The name stuck and is actually a pretty accurate description of how we feel like we live our day-to-day -- feeling stuck, forced into an unnatural environment; trained to be something you’re not. All we really want to do is hang out in the jungle and swing from the trees."
Linda Ferreira - Absolute Punk

“Dave Good and the San Diego Reader talk Monkeys In Space! "Their music is in equal measures frat house funny, insecure, and played sometimes as if they are surprised to find how good those big fat power chords can sound when blasting from their own amps. Which is to say that MIS, like Rush and Black Sabbath, are pretty much a guy experience."”
Dave Good - San Deigo Reader

“The full MIS interview: Can you describe your music for readers who may not have heard? Kerp: Well i obviously think that its good music but if i had to describe it i would say it rock music that will put you in a state of "all you want to do it have fun" feeling. Johnny: frantic high energy rock n’ roll with a couple grooves mixed in- its all real and we are constantly fighting the real world for our right to rock.. and that’s what we sing about. ”
