Biography:

Jazzberry is launched by two musicians: DJ, percussionist & producer Mark Berman, and vocalist Fridolijn van Poll. An intense search for a way to combine their passions for music, songwriting, producing, improvising and performing lead to the founding of JAZZBERRY

On stage:
Our beatmaster/percussionist Mark Berman drops a beat, using his laptop, drumcomputer or percussion. This beat is lifted up by our drummer. With the beat as the foundation of our music we start building, creating a whole new music production live on stage by adding more and more instruments. The pianist records his synthbass to the drums, and then starts jamming with his Rhodes or piano. Hornparts and vocals are improvisingly added to the mix, ultimately creating a fully produced new song, live on stage. Nearly nothing we do is written down, this makes every performance different and unique. An exciting concept which makes every musician play on the top of his game.

In the past two years Jazzberry has built a large pool of highly talented musicians we regularly work with. For the festival sessions Jazzberry has formed a team of their top musicians. Jazzberry Sessions are hosted on a regular basis in clubs throughout Amsterdam.
These clubsessions have seen many great guest performers such as: DJ’s: Jazzanova, Kraak & Smaak and Mark deClive lowe, and musicians like Stefan Schmid (zuco103), Gideon van Gelder (Jose James) and many more. Jazzberry Sessions have also been performed at many different venues and at festivals like: Amsterdam Ijazz festival (June 2009), Texel Jazz festival (April 2009) & Heemstede Jazz (Dec. 2009)
