Catamenia's style is melodic dark metal and has some death and black metal influences in it, especially on their earlier releases.
Band was founded by guitarist Riku Hopeakoski and now already ex-vocalist Mika Tönning around 1995. In early days their style was epic and primitive black and most of all death metal. In the same year they recorded their first demo tape, but with the second one called "Winds" they got a record deal with German label Massacre Records and with them they have been ever since then. Debut album "Halls of Frozen North was released in 1998. Till today the band have released nine albums.
"Cavalcade" is featuring a wide assortment of melodic riffs, this release is one the first essential must have albums of 2010.
