As a semi-finalist in Canada’s Got Talent and recently opening for Canadian Hall of Fame rockers The Northern Pikes, multiple Juno Award winner Colin James and blues sensation Allen Stone, David Blair is proving he not only has experience but can deliver when it comes to performing and connecting with his audience. “I live to impact peoples lives and make a special moment for them every time I perform” says Blair.
Releasing two albums simultaneously and two music videos completely independently this past year have also shown his willingness to put in the work to expose his music to new fans. “Its definitely proven to be an exciting and challenging adventure - and worth every minute”. Touring from LA to Vancouver with NY band Emily Danger - his latest single ‘Stay In Touch’ from the album ‘Stay In Touch’ was nominated a finalist in the Great American Song Contest 2013 and has helped garner attention on local TV shows ‘On Da Grine’ and ‘Local Connection’.
With showcases at festivals such as Canadian Music Week and Florida Music Festival David has played over 500 shows across North America from LA to NY. Highlights include, the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, an opening slot for Juno Award winner K’Naan and a shared spots on stage with Dan Mangan, Hannah Georgas, John Mann from Spirit Of The West and Juno award winner Shari Ulrich.
Receiving radio play across Canada for his sophomore release ‘Things Left Unsaid’, his music videos also received film festival screenings for ‘This Is The Soundtrack’, ‘Hurts So Hard’ and ‘You Make Me OK’ premiering in several film festivals including Rendez-Vous French Film Festival in Vancouver and Chicago International Movies and Music Festival.
An avid sports fan – his song and video ‘We Are Canucks’ – which was written just before the Canucks’ playoff run 2011 was featured at Canucks.com, played at all the home games on the jumbotron at Rogers Arena during the 2011 NHL playoffs in Vancouver, and resulted in a video that has received over 60,000 views and counting on Youtube.
Born and raised in Vancouver, he grew up with many different musical influences and though he was classically trained in piano from a young age he didn’t start playing guitar until after highschool. He is currently planning the release of his 5th studio album and a European tour for fall 2013.
