Biography:

Pseudo Slang (BRONX, BUFFALO, CHICAGO) is a jazz-esque hip-hop outfit of a uniquely poetic varietal fronted by Emcee Sick aka Sickeeesick working with a brilliant crew of collaborators such as Pawcut, a Cat Called FRITZ, David Goliath, Japandrew, Rawhead, Dj Form, and many more. The PSlang has been extremely active touring internationally for nearly two decades, and is headed out yet again with a Cat Called FRITZ from Fall 2023 into a good chunk of 2024 in support of the "What The Neighbors -----?" Double-LP with Pawcut (Release Date: Sept 15, 2023) which features some amazing contributors. Here's the first vid from the forthcoming full-length: Pseudo Slang x Pawcut “coo n comfeee” ft. Nilua

Boasting a lengthy catalogue of releases spanning 25+ years with a focus on the much beloved medium of vinyl, the PSlang has predominantly self-released on Sick’s label Baby Steps Hip Hop (aka Baby Steps Again), born during the decade-long weekly hip hop event by the same name, most notably where the Griselda movement cut its teeth & formed in Buffalo, NY.

PS’s long-running collaboration with master-beat-crafter Pawcut has been very prolific as evidenced in the lushly pressed, session vibes of our Wanderverse Gatefold Double-LP which we highly recommend diving into an uninterrupted listening of in its entirety.

Pseudo Slang remains vigorously prolific in the wake of the recent span of devastation to independent artists & the venues that support them, compounded by the abuses of predatory capitalism leeching off of our culture and creative communities, and we proceed in compliance with no imperial forces.

Press:

““When I first heard Pseudo Slang ‘Yes Doubt’ I was floored, and it became my #1 Song of 2008. I’ve been doing radio for 18 years but few songs ever gave me chills, ‘Yes Doubt’ was one of them. I can’t wait for the album.” ”
- Dj 3rd Rail Chicago DJ and Radio Legend, - 89.3FM WNUR

““Fat Beats have signed a great act here and we hope to hear more of their output if the standard of production and rhymes are like these.” ”
Fat City Records

““Pseudo Slang is the thinking fan’s kind of hip-hop” ”
Dave Jakubiak - Chicago Sun Times
