Biography:

Darker Half is a Heavy Metal band from Sydney, Australia. Founded by Vocalist/Guitarist Vo Simpson in 2005, They incorporate a mix of Power, Thrash and NWOBHM metal to create a uniquely modern yet classic Heavy Metal sound built on huge soaring vocals, duelling guitars and thundering rhythms executed to precision at breakneck speed. The band have become one of Australia's top melodic heavy metal acts and have shared the stage with bands such as Queensryche, Paul Di'Anno (ex-Iron Maiden), Nightwish, Sabaton, Alestorm, Warbringer, Edguy, Sonata Arctica and more.

Darker Half began building a strong local following and recorded and self-released the album 'Duality' in 2009, which saw the band securing multiple support slots, touring with Queensryche and Paul Di'Anno within a few months of each other as well as their own national headline tour. During the tour for Duality drummer Ben Martino left the band due to personal commitments, so guitarist Dom Simpson moved to Drums (his first instrument) and the band recruited Brad Dickson on guitar in late 2009 to complete the current lineup. The band continued to tour and in late 2010 returned to the studio to record 'Desensitized', the bands first recording with this lineup. Darker Half signed to Australian label Rockstar Records and MGM Distribution for this Australian only album. 'Desensitized' was released in August 2011 and a whirlwind Australian tour saw the band trek the country multiple times and perform alongside bands such as Alestorm, Children of Bodom, Edguy, Sonata Arctica and Warbringer along with their headline shows. The bands live performances and the album 'Desensitized' received great reviews in magazines and websites worldwide, which has led to an ever increasing fan base outside Australia.

During this time Vo Simpson was invited to join members of Accept, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Metal Church, Grim Reaper, Onslaught and more as a featured vocalist on the Empires Of Eden album 'Channelling The Infinite'.

2012 saw Darker Half complete the tour for 'Desensitized', and saw Vo and Dom Simpson recruited to Tim 'Ripper' Owens' (ex-Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen) solo band for his Australian and New Zealand tour in (on bass and drums respectively) before beginning work on their next album. During post production, Dom toured as the drummer for ex-Iron Maiden singers Paul Di'Anno and Blaze Bayley before returning to contribute to the mixing of the album.

Having become a mainstay of the Australian metal scene, Darker Half intend to take on the rest of the world.
