Biography:

ABOUT
Henry Invisible, the “One Man Funk Band,” is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter that layers live loops of vocal harmonies, guitar, bass, keyboard, electronic drums, drum machines, and percussion in order to create original high-energy dance music that embodies what a solid 6 piece funk band would sound like.

Currently based in Austin TX, Henry Invisible electrifies dance parties at venues and festivals across the United States, playing a solid role in the local, regional and national funk scene. During the pandemic lockdown, Henry brought his performance to the world’s living room via a weekly virtual songwriting performance called “The Lovestream.” His success has led to musical collaborations and performances on Omar Apollo’s single "Stay Back" and the latest Bootsy Collins album "Power of The One”.

In 2020, Henry began releasing music as Henry Invisible to reflect an evolution of his artistry and to signify a new chapter of musical sounds. Check out his latest releases here and also on the Henry + The Invisibles artist pick playlist.

"On a scale of one to ten, he’s a million. I first discovered Henry at the inaugural Float Fest of 2014. Obscenely talented, he appeared on stage with the soul of Elton John and the spirited guitar skills of Jimi Hendrix. While he’s able to bongo, drum, strum, fingerpick, rap, sing and do ventriloquistic performances with his football-shaped alien puppet friend, his most impressive move is stringing his guitar behind his neck and flawlessly playing a killer guitar solo as if he invented guitar solos decades ago. Since the 2014 festival appearance, I have seen him an additional handful of times, every time as if it were the first. This man will blow you off your feet so quickly that you’ll think you’re flying, and he is the sort of musician that not only makes you move but moves you. The intimate relationship he has with his audience is absolutely unmatched in the live music scene."- Nathalie Phan // On Vinyl Music
"Multi-instrumentalist Henry Roland is quickly changing what it means to be a one man band. Based out of Austin, Henry Invisible incorporates the sheer songwriting finesse of Elton John with the technical virtuosity of Jimi Hendrix in his loop-based arrangements. Roland’s abilities on guitar, bass, keys, and vocals coalesce for high-energy performances filled with seamless transitions between instruments and songs – all while the man himself has the time of his life onstage."– Jack Anderson // KUTX host

“I believe I may have actually found an artist polished enough to truly be called "great". Henry + the Invisibles is the first act I have seen in quite some time that possesses that certain indescribable spark of rock 'n' roll excellence that is usually reserved for the national acts that we all love to jealously hate.”
Kerry Martin - Backbeat Magazine

"Roland was a literal one-man band, frantically hopping from guitar to drums to bass to keys to vocals, playing a few bars on one, looping it, and moving on to another while the audience attentively watched the culmination of a song gradually materialize, like the mad scientist who finally makes his flask explode into a giant fireball!"
Andy Pareti - Soundcheck

“If you’re among the minority in San Antonio who still haven’t seen Henry + the Invisibles — the type heard to mutter, “I’ve heard a lot about them but I’ve never seen them.” — I have news for you: you never will. Henry + the Invisibles are the brain-heart-lungs-everything-child of Henry Roland, a one-man band!”
Enrique Lopetegui - San Antonio Current

“Henry and the Invisibles trips people out. This is not an opinion or over-generalization; this is a fact.”
Anali Barrera - SA Metro

"The evolution of sound has reached the new nexus. One man standing on a mountain, blowing a bugle, beating on the earth, and changing the way we listen."
Matt Guzman - Study Breaks

"Stomp meets rock meets funk and soul... Worth checking out!"
Clint Hale - 210

“Henry + the Invisibles produces live loops on the spot to create a soulful, funk-tastic experience that guides the crowd through an orchestration of electronica and fusion.”
Ashley Cass - Sky Saw
