BEHIND THE LENS

Inspired by the streets of America, Katone has been known as one of the greatest up and coming directors and music artist within the tri-state area who infuses all the aspects of life into his films and music. Winning recognition in the world of DVD mix tapes, Katone, was the fearless director who helped pioneer this movement. As an innovative director, he started his career as a teenager making 16mm films and is well known for his work within the tri-state area as a music video director. Besides accomplishing his passion as a director and film maker, Katone acquired fame as a writer, with both solo and group efforts amongst some of hip-hop’s elite talents.
Born into an atmosphere infused with the spirit of intellectualism and curiosity, KATONE was born in Asbury Park, NJ. As the son of a poet, musician, and hustler, KATONE was constantly inspired by his father’s work which influenced his career. KATONE studied Digital Media at Gibbs College from 2006 to present and at the same time started his adventure with films as a camera man with both MTV and The Channel 12 news. Following the magic path of films, KATONE adapted his former musical attribute Katone and thus SQUARE MILE MEDIA was born.
With the accolades of crossing the boundaries of three generations and a series of themes and concepts, Katone has used the aspects of color and innovative editing thus surpassing the modern generation of movie directors and music video amateurs.
Characterized by street edge, expression, vivid and exotic music, Katone remains etched as a director whose flow is directed by fluidity of movement and smooth editing. Today Katone is in the process of filming his SECOND full length movie. He has shot over twenty music videos for various talents throughout the U.S. and his unique approach to the videos he shoots is well received not only within the hip-hop community but amongst those who are fans of art period.
