Winner of 2011 Best R/ B at the "Hollywood Music Awards" Crystal Starr is a Fun, soulful and diverse young girl with a voice reminiscent of Divas twice her age, Crystal Starr’s Sophomore CD is poised to make waves in a music industry often focused on spectacle rather than chops. Under the guidance of veteran producer J Dixon, ("Two of hearts" Stacie Q, Mariah Carey, Patti Labelle, Diana Ross, Chaka Kahn and others) the two created breakout singles like the 60's inspired song SHELLY! SHELLY! and the empowering song "PAYBACK". Born to an African American father, a Puerto Rican mother and the Goddaughter of gospel great Howard McCrary, her rich heritage formed the palette for her diverse musical taste. One listen to the depth of emotion on the heart wrenching "Lonely Soldier" and it is hard to imagine that Crystal had to “learn” anything about “soul,” there is no doubt that she was born with it. Crystal began singing around her hometown of West Covina, CA in church. She landed her first professional gig at age sixteen singing background for pop sensation Jessica Simpson. In between classes at Santa Monica College where Crystal majored in music, she shared the stage with major artists, Stevie Wonder, Yolanda Adams, Kanye West, Jermaine Jackson, Tito Jackson, Heather Headley, Neyo, Nancy Wilson, John Legend, Babyface, Howard McCrary, Joss Stone and Smokey Robinson and also appeared on hit tv show American Idol. Crystal, being bilingual, recently toured as a featured vocalist with Latin superstars Joan Sebastian and Cristian Castro to audiences of sometimes 30,000. Not only has Crystal sung on stage with many legendary singers, she recently had the opportunity to open up a Tribute Concert for the amazing Stevie Wonder with headliners like Chaka Kahn, Eric Benet, Bobby Brown and Stevie Wonder at the Gibson Universal Amphitheater, singing his hit "Higher Ground" to an audience of 10,000. Crystal just returned from starring in the Broadway musical “Baby it’s You,” where she performed nightly for industry veterans such as Quincy Jones, Clive Davis, Rod Stewart, the late Don Cornelious, and the breath taking Aretha Franklin. Currenetly she is starring in another Broadway Bound show "Boy From New York City. Crystal Starr is now planning her 2012/13 tour entitled #Dimples "N" Curls Co-headling with artist Kasi Jones. Her powerhouse vocals are again receiving great attention.
