Biography:

Born Relic [formerly known as (i am) isis] is an award-winning, high energy, in-your-face band formed and fronted by poet-turned-rocker, isis. the band currently consists of bassist Mike Koltosky, drummer Manny Mav, guitarist Diamond Dave, and keyboardist Isaac Childs who bring the soul-rock-phenom's crazy, color-filled melodies to life on stage.

with an affinity for rock-infused guitars and thrashing delivery, this five-piece crew has positioned themselves to thrive within the music and entertainment industries. their sound is an eclectic fusion of rock and spoken soul, with a bluesy funk for the new millennium. isis has been described as “an edgy and fresh brand of soulful truth”, who is both haunting and mesmerizing. The band’s live shows have been characterized as an energetic explosion of power and grace.

their mission is simple: find you, feel you and free you.

that mission has allowed isis and the band to grace the stages of premiere venues and events across the country, such as the Knitting Factory, Santos Party House, DROM (New York), the historic First Avenue (Minneapolis), and the Watts Festival (Los Angeles). they have also opened up for a wide range of artists and speakers, including jessica Care moore, Wyclef Jean, Dr. Cornel West, Ursula Rucker, Firewater and India.Arie.

isis, herself, has been featured as Soul Train’s artist of the month, following her debut video “Drive Me” on Comcast On-Demand. of Liberian parents, the Newark-born, Minneapolis-raised phenom is also a winner of the 2012 National Poetry Awards' Spoken Word Single of the Year for her single, “I Saw You”.

Edward - Soul In Stereo

"(i am) isis' Drive Me video is hot not only because it's a banging track combined with stunning visuals but also because, as car guy, the hook inspires me to think of getting behind the wheel of supSercar and zooming off into the distance. Of course, Drive Me would be bumping in the speakers."

Britni Danielle - Clutch Magazine
