The story so far... SKYEHOOK is a Canadian band that formed in Barrie, Ontario around January of 2007.
The band began conceptually when local musician Jaedy McGuire, began regularly performing in the thriving local Jam scene.
This would be the common thread that would connect all four members of Skyehook.
The musical connection and camaraderie was instant and it was only a matter of time
before the four permanently joined forces.
A common saying within the band is: "We'll play a broom closet if there's an audience in it!"
Fortunately they have only had to play a few closets soon becoming a draw at the local bars, with a steadily growing number of fans known affectionately as hookies.
Each musician brings a wealth of diverse influences to SKYEHOOK
- (from rock, alt and punk, to grunge and blues to classical and ambient).
The result is a unique sound dubbed "Wizard Rock" (coined by One Star Studio owner Shane Heath).
The rest is history… in the making.
The name Skyehook is derived from a poem turned song named Deluge
which illustrates the bands musical mission statement: the emancipation of the human spirit through music.

“Billy Tytaneck knows first hand the importance of medical research, and is hoping a local concert will raise awareness and funds for a cause close to his heart. Tytaneck is one of the organizers behind Rock The Cure, a concert to raise funds to find a cure for Crohn's Disease and Colitis.
Local musicians SkyeHook, The Humbles, Corey Heuvel and One Drop will perform at the Feb. 13 show, taking place at the Lion's Gate Banquet Hall.”

“Excerpt:"...Shane Heath, festival organizer and owner/operator of One Star Studio, said he saw the need for a local rock festival and went to work. “I’ve been a part of the music scene in Barrie for about 10 years and I’ve also toured a lot around North America. Promoting the studio over the years, I’ve seen a lot of great bands and I thought that Barrie needed something to showcase rock,” he said. Heath, who also runs the Foxx Lounge, said he had no problem finding talented musicians to take part. “I basically picked the best bands that have come through the Foxx Lounge, the ones with the biggest draw and the biggest fan base to be involved,” he said. Each night, the festival offers up a different style of music. Skyehook - 11-11:30 - Alternative Progressive Rock with tight hooks and a positive message!"”

“SkyeHook brought the house down at the Foundation Nightclub tonight, opening for Stealing
Time, with a one hour set of original material - a fresh new sound within the alt-rock genre.
SkyeHook’s energetic performance got the crowd going and inspired the venue to open their
windows out into the street, where a crowd gathered to watch the spectacle.
ThTh e height of the performance culminated with “Your Other Left”, a song known to be SkyeHook’s
signature tune.
During this climactic fifi nish, drummer Sarah Jane was standing as she pounded the drums,
while bassist Chroih Veronski abused his bass and split his knuckles on the cymbals!
ThTh is display of excitement and sheer talent left the crowd on their feet and cheering.
Defifi nitely a band to watch!”
