“Es gibt Bands, die lange einen sehr ähnlichen Stil verfolgen und auf einmal kommt ein neues Album in dem zwar der alte Stil immernoch klar erkennbar ist, es aber in vielerlei Hinsicht doch anders klingt. Das neue Album von „Eldar“ gehört ganz klar dazu. Während noch auf den letzten Veröffentlichungen eine Mischung aus „Dark Ambient“ und einem bombastischen „Martial Industrial“ á la „Triarii” zu hören war, hat man den letzten Teil größtenteils verworfen, den Stimmverzerrer in die Ecke gestellt und stattdessen mit echten, unverfälschten Stimmen und fast schon rituellen Schlagwerk abgelöst. Diese Neuerung tut den Italienern sehr gut und wertet deren Musik noch einmal auf. Die „Dark Ambient“ Passagen laden weiterhin zu träumen ein, werden jedoch mit nachdenklich-poetischen Texten verbunden, was man besonders in diesem Genre nicht allzu oft hört. Man beschäftigt sich bei jedem Lied mit einem einzelnen Thema auf mythologisch-metaphorischer Ebene.”

“Der Begriff „Eldar“ entstammt der Iberischen Sprache (Iberer = Einwohner der heutigen Spanischen Halbinsel), die vor 2.500 Jahren gesprochen wurde. Ihre Wurzeln sind bis in die Megalith-Kultur zurück zu verfolgen. Eldar bedeutet so viel wie „epidemisch“. 2004 wurde ELDAR als Soloprojekt von MARC gegründet und ist mittlerweile durch den Zuwachs von MERCE zu einem Duo angewachsen. “Schon "Sapere Aude" war ein ordentlicher Hammer geworden, aber wie schaut es denn da mit diesem Silberling aus? Mit "Amaterasu Shiroi" gebären uns Eldar kein neues Werk, sondern vielmehr Neuaufnahmen der Demos aus den Jahren 2007/2008. Diese wurden damals unter den Titeln "Ama Terasu" sowie "Solve Et Coagula" veröffentlicht und unterscheiden sich doch recht stark von den Neuaufnahmen, wurde hier einiges verändert. “Nachdem das spanische Projekt ELDAR in der jüngeren Vergangenheit bereits auf dem schwedischen Cold Meat-Label seine Alben veröffentlichte, folgt nun ein Nachschlag auf dem heimischen spanischen Label Caustic Records. Dieser Nachschlag setzt sich aus insgesamt zehn Demoaufnahmen zusammen, die bereits 2007/08 aufgenommen und nun komplett neu eingespielt wurden. Their newest release, "Amaterau Shiroi" contains remastered versions of trakcs which appeared on their earlier recordings "Ama Terasu" and "Solve Et Coagula". The songs have been altered concerning vocals, instruments, samples, which made them more and, in my view, better done than the previous versions. The music is dark, poetic, it carries more classical elements than it usually does in ambient and martial industrial artists' works. Thanks to that it is also more mystical. “Next to a new album (cf. Amesha Spentas") released on Cold Meat Industry Marc Merinee and Merce Spica released another album in their homeland on Caustic Records. "Amaterasu Shiroi" isn't exactly anew album , but a reworked and remastered version from demo recordings edited by Skulline in 2 volumes (cf. "Ama Terasu" and "Solve Et Coagula"). The original songs were composed in 2007/2008, but on "Amaterasu Shiroi" all songs now get a 2nd life. The influences of Eldar are quite multiple, mixing industrial, neo-folk and dark ambient elements with each other. The mixture of all styles results in a diversified and enjoyable release, which sounds quite refreshing. After a neo-folk inspired debut (cf. "Baraeco Sin Eske") it moves into a more sacred and even ritual-minded exploration (cf. "Arconi Radgost Inda") to finally get into a mix of neo-folk and industrial (cf. "Yaincoa Flintz Egis"). Based on the relation of philosophy and society Eldar tries to empower this 'concept' by spoken vocals.”

Their new work, ‘Amesha Spentas’, is based on the works of Goya from a conceptual point of view. The album starts with ‘Strange Madness’, which brings us immediately in martial atmospheres. ‘The Insurgents Shot’ continues this, but has a very soundtrackish atmosphere to it. ‘The Sleep Of Reason Create Monsters’ is more of a partially melancholic and creepy soundscape, together with the use of vocals. ‘Died The Truth’ makes good use of female vocals amidst martial elements. Also ‘The Courdyard Of Fools’ has female vocals and the whole song has a very good cinematic martial atmosphere to it. “After last year's debut on Roger Karmanik's label with the interesting "Sapere Aude" in the vein of the Swedish old school of Archon Satani and Inanna, Catalan Eldar return with a CD full of news.
