Biography:

The Flies started when vocalist Sean Cook teamed up with soundtrack writers and record producers 'the insects' on a few late night impromptu recording sessions.
Coming from different musical backgrounds there was a shared interest in classic 50's/60's music and exotica. The NME succinctly described the Flies as "Like the Velvets on a David Lynch set"
Their first album 'All Too Human' was released in 2007 to great critical acclaim.

Press:

"This album is tailor made for dark alley dwelling delinquents and their equally dark desires. Sultry and sordid crooning boosted sounds that are perfect for both those between the sheets or between a rock and a hard place."
Glasswerk

" …same atmospheric, experimental approach to rock 'n' roll invented by the Velvet Underground, Walking On The Sand is a brooding slab of '60 psychedelic desert rawk … Makes The Jesus & Mary Chain sound like Black Lace!" MSN
MSN

"Sounds like one of the classics that should have been in everyone's collection for the past thirty years...[The Flies] come across as a gloriously spaced out version of The Doors. SUBBACULTCHA
SUBBACULTCHA

“ "You may not have heard much about The Flies as yet, but there is definitely a buzz surrounding them… sort of moody, hazy Doors past classic that could easily find its way onto the soundtrack of a film like Apocalypse Now" ”
INDIE LONDON

"A darkly haunting but timelessly beautiful collection of songs"
SOUNDFREAK.CO.UK

"All Too Human is a dark, brooding and classy collection that deserves to be heard"
ENTERTAINMENTMANCHESTER.COM

“ "If talent alone decided the music chart positions, then The Flies would easily hold the record for being top of the charts for the longest time" ”
WELIKECLUBBING.COM

"In a world of Kaiser Chiefs, James Blunts and Hard Fi's, The Flies have injected a breath of fresh air into music...the best UK debut album of the year."
XFM

"Like The Velvets on a David Lynch set."
NME

"In these pick and mix musical times with the steady demise of the album, LPs as 'works of art' are increasingly rare. Fortunately there are a handful of bands that refuse to succumb to the MP3 downloading whitewash. Bristol three-piece The Flies, have created an album that is as much an artistic entity as it is a collection of individually compelling songs."
Emma Padley - BBC.CO.UK

"Dark, dirty, drugged and downright sexy 'The Flies' manage to walk a very thin line between tried and tested nights of mid-nineties house party excess' and an incredible talent to draw a very relevant present into a fast approaching future."
GIGWISE

"The Bristol Sound's not dead, it's just chilling out. Or, in the case of this debut from The Flies, creeping around the seedier back- streets in search of sensual gratification."
Andy Gill - THE INDEPENDENT

"The result is a lush, atmospheric collection of songs that deal in "sweet release" and sexual obsession, over ghostly, classic hooks."
Dave Simpson - THE GUARDIAN
